Pain!
Agonizing pain!
Every muscle in his body was swelling, every bone battered. Surrounded by more than a dozen hulking men, he lost all ability to fight back in just two or three breaths.
He could only curl up on the ground and keep twisting, trying to dodge the fists and feet raining down on him!
At this point, the so-called training in taking hits had become nothing more than a one-sided beating.
After three to five minutes of being pummeled by the hulking men, Su Wu could hold on no longer. His focus slipped, and he passed out on the spot.
A delicate fragrance drifted through the air, and warmth flowed around him.
Unconscious, Su Wu felt a pair of soft hands glide over every part of his body. Wherever those palms worked, faint traces of coolness arose.
The cool sensation gathering throughout his body grew stronger and stronger, finally waking him.
He opened his eyes to find himself lying facedown on a massage table. Beside him stood a middle-aged woman dressed neatly and covered up from head to toe.
Her looks were ordinary, but her voice was soft and husky, with a distinctive sensuality.
Turning her head and noticing that Su Wu had opened his eyes, she gave a small, closed-lipped smile and said softly, "You're awake? Once I've finished your massage, go soak in the medicinal tub over there.
"These superficial injuries will heal very soon."
Su Wu ignored her, turning his head from side to side to examine the bruises on both arms, so purple they were almost black.
Injuries this severe would never heal without several days of rest.
Yet the woman before him claimed that a soak in the medicinal tub would heal them in no time?
Could it really be that miraculous?
Those men really hadn't held back. They'd shown no concern whatsoever for this body's vital areas. If I hadn't desperately protected them earlier, I'd probably be dead by now!
An environment like this counted as safe?
The simulator could classify it as a "safe house"?
As Su Wu's thoughts raced, the woman beside him had already covered his entire body in a pale red ointment.
"Get up and soak in the medicinal tub. Your injuries will heal very soon." She patted Su Wu on the back, then walked over to the tub in the room and crouched to switch off several buttons near its base.
The medicinal tub was easily large enough for Su Wu to soak in alone.
The whole tub appeared to be made of a metal alloy. A pipe as thick as the mouth of a bowl connected to its silvery-white body, its other end disappearing into the ceiling.
The woman pressed a button on the tub's lid, and it slowly opened.
A rich herbal smell spread through the room along with curling wisps of white steam.
Once she had finished, she turned to look at Su Wu.
Su Wu climbed off the massage table, a blanket wrapped around his lower body.
He walked over to the tub and reached out to test the temperature of the medicinal liquid.
It was slightly hot, just right for a bath.
"I'm going to take a bath. Could you step outside first?" Su Wu said to the woman beside him, looking down at the reddish-black liquid without raising his head.
The woman nodded. "There's a green button beside the tub. Press it whenever you need to call me."
"All right."
"Thank you."
After watching the woman walk gracefully out of the room and close the door, Su Wu unwrapped the blanket and stepped into the medicinal tub.
He curled up inside it so the medicinal liquid could soak his entire body.
Let's see whether this medicinal bath and that woman's massage really work that well. Could they quickly heal the injuries this body had suffered?
The thought had barely surfaced when the strange sensation of the liquid soaking his body swept every thought from Su Wu's mind.
As the reddish-black liquid soaked him, Su Wu felt as though every pore on his body had opened in an instant. Threads of heat kept passing through them into his muscles and bones!
Those wisps of heat joined into strands, the strands into a web, interweaving as they circulated throughout his body.
The medicinal effects of the ointment the woman had applied earlier also emerged from deep within his flesh, spreading alternating sensations of coolness and warmth throughout Su Wu's body!
He raised an arm and saw the bruises gradually fading. The blood pooled beneath his skin slowly dispersed, and his blood circulated freely throughout his body!
This medicinal liquid... really had something to it!
Not only could it heal these external injuries, but its medicinal effects seemed to strengthen my physique as well!
Having experienced the glow of the orange flame lit by the Black Candle, Su Wu knew better than anyone what it felt like to have his physique strengthened and improved.
He was certain that the medicine had some effect on strengthening his physique.
Even if it fell far short of the Black Candle's effects, bathing in this medicinal liquid every day would produce substantial results over time!
Sitting in the tub, Su Wu considered it for a moment.
He closed his eyes. "Exit the simulation."
The moment that thought arose, the simulator responded:
"You have successfully exited this simulation. Your progress in this simulation has been saved!"
When Su Wu opened his eyes again, he was back inside the Little Temple.
Orange firelight illuminated the Little Temple, where all the furnishings remained as they had been.
Jiang Yingying sat in a corner with a thick coat draped over her. When Su Wu turned to look at her, his eyes happened to meet hers.
She stared blankly at Su Wu for three or four seconds before coming to her senses.
Flustered, she hurriedly looked away and lowered her head guiltily.
"Some unusual things may happen to my body in a little while. Don't worry," Su Wu said, paying no attention to Jiang Yingying's behavior. "As long as you stay in the temple, you'll be safe.
"Remember, no matter what happens, don't leave this temple.
"The moment you leave, you'll be in grave danger!"
The longer he spoke, the more serious his expression became.
Listening to him, Jiang Yingying grew serious as well. She nodded gently and replied, "I'll remember all of that. I definitely won't leave this temple."
The girl hesitated, but could not help asking Su Wu, "Are you going somewhere? It's... very dangerous outside the temple."
Su Wu shook his head. "I'll be staying right here.
"But things are different now. Some things beyond your understanding may happen to my body, or they may not.
"Just treat all of it as normal."
"All right." Jiang Yingying's expression was solemn. "I trust you completely."
Su Wu murmured an acknowledgment and said no more.
Next, he intended to physically enter the past life of the "dagger's owner"-the fighter.
This would be his first time physically entering a simulation. Anything might happen to his body in reality, so he needed to give Jiang Yingying some warning.
Su Wu had thought long and hard before deciding to physically enter the simulation.
That training facility was a safe house to begin with.
He could leave it at any time.
That meant his safety would be assured from the outset when he physically entered it. Should he encounter any situation that threatened his life, he could instantly exit the simulation.
And compared with the dangers that might arise, this simulation of the fighter's past life was more likely to bring him even greater rewards.
Not just the medicinal liquid that could strengthen his physique,
but even the pain constantly accumulated during the training in taking hits could rapidly improve Su Wu's compatibility with the Corpse Buddha Ghost Hand.
Not to mention all the other training that would follow.
Su Wu resolved to make the attempt.
It was risky, but fortune favored those willing to brave danger!
