"Wooo~ wooo~ wooo~"
The ambulance sirens sounded like sobbing. White-robed paramedics lifted stretchers, carrying one gravely wounded victim after another into the ambulances. Those in critical condition could only receive emergency treatment on the spot.
The elderly Hiero Nimus gazed mournfully at Linden Tree Street, now reduced to rubble. A young man with blond hair and golden eyes removed his hat and held it against his chest as he solemnly approached Professor Nimus.
"I'm sorry. It seems I was still a step too late."
Professor Nimus shook his head.
"You did your job very well. If you hadn't discovered the danger in advance, what followed would probably have been even more troublesome."
Deep exhaustion covered Professor Nimus's weathered face.
"Abraham, could you answer a question for me?"
"Please, go ahead," the blond young man said with a nod.
"Did Heaven issue any instructions to you?"
"...No."
"As I thought..."
Professor Nimus's figure grew even more stooped.
"Did the [Thirteenth Department] say anything to you?"
"They need me to sign the Information Secrecy Regulation."
"...I see. You've completed this Graduation Task. I still have something to attend to."
Professor Nimus turned and walked away from Linden Tree Street. Xia Xiu silently watched his retreating figure. Once Professor Nimus had completely disappeared from view, he slowly walked into the battered neighborhood.
Most of the wounded and dead had already been transported away, and the rampaging constructs had been eliminated. The splattered blood on the ground and the sizzling severed limbs of constructs all told of the tragedy that had just taken place here.
"Hello, are you Mr. Abraham?" A young staff member of the [Thirteenth Department] stopped Xia Xiu.
"I am."
"Please come with us to sign the Information Secrecy Regulation.
