Her best friend Delia's chatter rang in Bernice's ears. This was already the eighth time she had brought it up since school ended.
Her best friend had been trying to sell her on her dance group, [Super Boys], and drag her into the so-called fandom.
According to her, this year's Youyang Audition had the most lavish lineup in its history. Quite a few famous celebrities had been invited to appear as guests and judges.
Although they were both high school students, Bernice had never really understood why her best friend got excited about strangers on the other side of a screen, or felt admiration and love for someone she had never interacted with.

To deal with her best friend's nagging, Bernice could only agree readily. She knew that if she didn't watch, her best friend would spend the entire week pestering her like a fly.
Sometimes friends were like that. When sharing something they loved with their friends, they were like zealots preaching their faith. If the other person came to share their interest as a result, it gave them an immense sense of satisfaction.

Before they parted, Delia solemnly repeated it to Bernice once again.
"I know," Bernice replied helplessly. Since she had agreed, she would naturally watch.
After saying goodbye to her best friend, Bernice went home. As usual, her parents were probably still working overtime. They generally didn't get home until after nine.
