General Lei asked with some concern, "Lord Ao, do you mean those Demon Women might be after the treasure we're escorting?"
Ao Dongping nodded. "Ao Zhenyuan and I discussed this in the command tent earlier. He thinks so too.
"This treasure has an extraordinary provenance. It was one thing when we first seized it.
"But now, we're taking it to the Dragon Palace as a birthday gift for the royal consort.
"That will clearly leave certain people unable to eat or sleep in peace, afraid their secrets will come to light.
"It stands to reason that they would resort to tricks along the way to stop this treasure from reaching the Dragon Palace."
General Lei clicked his tongue. "But we have three entire forces escorting this treasure!
"Never mind our rear army. They're only demon troops.
"But the vanguard and the central army are genuine elite dragon soldiers!"
Ao Dongping nodded and repeated what Ao Zhenyuan had told him earlier. "When Their Highnesses Ao Luo and Ao Tai patrolled the seas, they had elite dragon soldiers with them too. Didn't things go wrong for them all the same?"
After hearing this, General Lei fell silent for a moment, then abruptly rose and headed out of the tent.
Ao Dongping hurriedly called after him, "General Lei, where are you going?"
Without looking back, General Lei swept aside the tent flap and declared firmly, "Back to my own tent to cultivate! To prepare for battle!"
