"Hand out the food to our classmates first, then I'll tell you my guess," Shen Ye said.
"Promise?" Nangong Sirui asked.
"Promise," Shen Ye said.
Nangong Sirui gave him a few more looks before slowly rising and walking toward their classmates, calling out:
"Everyone, come get some food while it's still relatively safe."
"One portion each."
"No grabbing."
"Come on!"
Shen Ye sat to one side, watching Nangong Sirui hand out food while silently working through his own affairs.
No one was leaving now.
They should be safe for the time being, right?
Who knew how much longer that monster would stay here?
"Seeing that everyone's fine puts my mind at ease." He stood with a smile. "Well, I'll go gather some more information."
"Hey! What did you just tell me?" Nangong Sirui blocked his way and asked irritably.
Shen Ye was about to speak when he suddenly noticed something extra in his field of vision.
What was it?
Keeping his expression unchanged, he looked at Nangong Sirui, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw a large black hand on his left arm.
No, not just his left arm.
There was one on his right arm too.
An enormous shadow slowly descended and stopped behind him, leaning forward slightly to loom over him.

It held him in its embrace, its long female face pressed beside his ear. Long inhalations sounded from its nostrils, and faint murmurs came from its mouth.
But it did not attack.

It was deciding whether to kill now.
Shen Ye spoke in his usual tone:
"When I explored earlier, I didn't find any traces of other human activity, so we're already deeper than all previous human explorations have ever reached."
"We're making history!"
"How boring. Isn't that obvious?" Nangong
