D District was quiet.
When the fighting broke out, everyone had retreated into their rooms.
Only Shen Ye, Zhao Ge, Shamaness Cai, and the man in golden armor had been outside.
The interior cabins had no windows.
So no one knew how the battle had ended.
-As things had always been, they could not come out unless someone told them to.
And so, even now-
There were only Shen Ye, Shamaness Cai, and two severed heads in the little square.
Shen Ye stared at the heads, seemingly lost in thought.
Shamaness Cai muttered under her breath, reciting a long incantation to soothe the souls.
Even after she finished, Shen Ye was still lost in thought.
"What's wrong?"
Shamaness Cai asked.
"These heads haven't reached 'Terminus' yet," Shen Ye said.
"C District may have some secret art that allows souls to return. That must be what drew Zhao Ge in," Shamaness Cai said.
Both looked somewhat grave.
Normally, in this Entropy-Extinction Era, the phenomenon of "Entropy Annihilation" would appear soon after someone died.
Everything would vanish into nothing.
Yet these two heads were still here.
Perhaps their souls were still alive!
Shen Ye sank into thought.
If the Mountain and Sea Society's ability had to do with whether souls survived-
-Death would mean reaching Terminus.
-Or souls could return after death, rather than everything succumbing to Entropy Annihilation.
Even an idiot would know which to choose.
But it was not that simple.
Shen Ye glanced into the void, looking at the faint glowing text still hovering in midair:
"You have learned the Mountain and Sea Society's weakness." "The Soul-Possessing Ball cannot truly resurrect the dead. It only devours souls, then imitates them to create impostors possessing all the characteristics of the deceased."
So that was it.
