A young member of the Night Devil Race could not help coming closer out of curiosity.
At the little Night Demon's words, all four burst out laughing.
One member of the Night Devil Race gently rubbed the little Night Demon's head. "They are the humans our king often speaks of, those exceptionally cunning humans."
"Humans?"
The little Night Demon tilted his head curiously, his eyes wide as he repeatedly looked Xu Xuan up and down.
"Honored Dharma Protector, so this is what humans look like. They look so much like us, and that tender skin and flesh must be delicious, right?"
As the little Night Demon spoke, a hint of greed crept into the corners of his eyes, as though he wanted to swallow Xu Xuan whole.
His stomach also chose that moment to growl.
"Father said human flesh smells wonderful. It's just a shame no humans have ever set foot here. Now that we've caught one, can I have a taste?"
The little Night Demon blinked, looking utterly adorable.
If someone only looked at his expression without listening to his words, surely no one could have regarded the little fellow as such an evil creature?
Xu Xuan simply listened as these Night Demons discussed how to eat him. Wouldn't anyone have found being in his position bizarre?
The corner of Xu Xuan's mouth twitched slightly. "Didn't I tell you to bring out your Night Demon King? Why are you putting me on trial instead?"

He looked Xu Xuan up and down, then gently pinched Xu Xuan's cheek with his little claw.
