Now the war drums thundered, and divine light shone down.
Gods and Buddhas gathered in the sky above Green Cloud Mountain.
Guanyin Bodhisattva and Manjushri Bodhisattva each manifested their majestic Treasure Appearance, Merit Buddha-Light, chanting the Supreme Wondrous Text, expounding subtle Chan Dharma, discoursing on Tantric Buddhist Scripture Doctrines, and revealing the Perfect Penetration Buddhist Treasury.
Below, the lesser demons heard them and were converted by the scriptures, one after another.
Wild Boar Spirit hugged Frog Spirit and wept. "I must repent! I'll never eat people again!"
Frog Spirit said, "Stupid pig, you've never eaten anyone in the first place!"
Wild Boar Spirit said blankly, "That's right!"
Frog Spirit hugged Wild Boar Spirit in return and wept. "I'm the one who must repent! I'll never eat people again!"
Wild Boar Spirit said, "Haven't you never eaten anyone either?"
Frog Spirit came to a realization. "That's right!"
But in the blink of an eye, the scriptures influenced the two demons again, and they continued weeping and repenting.
The other demons were all affected by the scriptures too.
Suddenly, a bull's bellow rang out, thunderous enough to shake five hundred li, and the demons instantly regained their senses.
Bull Demon King donned his armor, took up his weapon, and walked out of the cave.
Blood Sea King and the others came out with him.
Seeing him, Guanyin Bodhisattva slowly descended and urged compassionately, "Bull Demon King, why not take refuge in Buddhism?"
As her words fell, the Eighteen Arhats appeared in the air.
Their leaders, Dragon-Subduing and Tiger-Taming, stood above the others on either side, solemn and imposing.
The others-Reaching-Hand and Long-Eyebrow, Raised-Bowl and Pagoda-Bearing, Deer-Seated and Elephant-Riding, Cloth-Bag and Laughing-Lion, among them-each displayed their powers and manifested wondrous signs, surrounding the battlefield.
