The Yellow-Browed Old Demon packed Tang Sanzang and the other two into his sack and returned to the temple.
Dawn was breaking, and daylight had just begun.
The little demons were all still in disguise.
At the sight, the Yellow-Browed Old Demon laughed. "No need to keep up the disguises. Come down!"
The little demons asked, "Great King, if we stop pretending, what about Tang Sanzang?"
The Yellow-Browed Old Demon roared with laughter. "You don't know yet! I've already captured Tang Sanzang and all his disciples!"
The little demons asked, "Captured them? Where are they?"
The Yellow-Browed Old Demon patted his sack. "Right here, aren't they?"
At this, all the little demons danced with joy.
One little demon said, "Now that we've caught Tang Sanzang, we can all become Buddhas!"
Another said, "Once we become Buddhas, we'll live forever and never grow old!"
The other little demons were all delighted to hear this. "Yes! Yes!"
Seeing this, the Yellow-Browed Old Demon laughed along with them, without telling these little demons the truth-that even he himself would have difficulty becoming a Buddha.
Just then, a little demon who was always adept at flattery spoke up. "Great King, how did you catch Tang Sanzang? Tell us about it and broaden our horizons!"
The Yellow-Browed Old Demon found it rather awkward to explain in detail. He merely said, "What's there to tell? I used a couple of little tricks, and Tang Sanzang fell meekly into my hands!"
Thinking the Great King was being modest, the little demon hurried to press him. "What tricks did you use, Great King? Tell us!"
The other little demons chimed in, "Tell us, Great King! Tell us!"
