Now, the Bodhisattvas and Arhats left Yaochi and went beyond the South Heaven Gate to subdue the demons.
Ao Tu brought Nezha out of Yaochi as well, to help subdue the demons.
With their arms slung over each other's shoulders, the two made their way there at a leisurely pace.
Nezha said, "What trick are you playing? Why are you going to fight yourself?"
Ao Tu laughed. "That's an incarnation of mine."
At this, Nezha could not help sobering up somewhat. His arm slipped off Ao Tu as he exclaimed in shock, "You've achieved Corpse-Slaying!"
Ao Tu hurriedly shook his head. He had not even reached Great Luo and was only a Golden Immortal. What corpse could he slay?
Corpse-Slaying referred to the method of Slaying the Three Corpses.
Ao Tu knew very little about this method.
However, having broken through to Great Luo several times, he had gained some understanding and insight into it.
In Ao Tu's understanding, the so-called Three Corpses did not refer to dead bodies, but to a state of cultivation within practitioners of great supernatural abilities, divided into the Good Corpse, the Evil Corpse, and the Self.
"Slaying" did not mean cutting something off with a sharp weapon, either, but overcoming, controlling, mastering, and so forth.
In other words, it meant controlling one's good thoughts, overcoming one's evil thoughts, and mastering the Self.
Completely slaying the Three Corpses required extraordinary perseverance, wisdom, supernatural abilities, and power, beyond the reach of ordinary people. Generally speaking, it was even harder than breaking through to Great Luo.
For this reason, there was a comparatively clever shortcut: lodging the Three Corpses within congenital spiritual treasures.
