After Thousand Faces' reminder, Lianshan Xin relaxed. He had thought he belonged to the Demon Cult; only today had he learned that the Demon Cult belonged to him.
That would do nicely.
Although this relationship still carried the risk of having his Nine Clans exterminated, Lianshan Xin thought it over. His Nine Clans hardly needed this one more offense.
"If I'm Maitreya, everything makes sense. But how did you discover I had the Past-Life Ability? Why didn't you guess I had the Heavenly Eye Ability?" Lianshan Xin asked curiously.
The Six Divine Powers specifically referred to the Heavenly Eye Divine Ability, Heavenly Ear Ability, Mind-Reading Ability, Destiny Insight, Divine Feet Ability, and Exhaustion of Defilements.
The first five were called manifest Divine Abilities, which could be gained and lost. Only upon obtaining the sixth could they be called untainted Divine Abilities and endure forever.
In plain language, the Exhaustion of Defilements was the strongest, while each of the first five had its strengths.
Lianshan Xin felt the talent he had displayed before should have been closer to the Heavenly Eye Divine Ability.
Thousand Faces explained, "The Cult Master said that, in his view, the Past-Life Ability is stronger than the Heavenly Eye Ability."
Lianshan Xin understood again. "I do indeed have the Past-Life Ability. The Cult Master's judgment can't be wrong."
Thousand Faces marveled inwardly. This esteemed master of his truly belonged in the Holy Cult.
"But I reckon that if the Cult Master learns of your existence, Master, he'll probably judge you to possess the Heavenly Eye Ability," Thousand Faces warned. "Master, if you can claim the Past-Life Ability, don't say you have the Heavenly Eye Ability."
"Why? Does the Demon Cult care so much about rankings?"
"Yes. If someone with the Exhaustion of Defilements appeared, the Cult Master
