I just received the badge for 10,000 average subscriptions today. This is my fourth book to average over 10,000 subscriptions, and all I can say is thank you. Today's 10,000 characters count as the make-up update for yesterday. I'll keep working hard to put out extra updates as thanks.
Of course, I'll keep working hard to polish the plot, too. The recent rapid rise in subscriptions really hasn't had anything to do with update frequency. I updated more during the first two volumes, but subscriptions to the latest chapters kept dropping. This volume had fewer updates, yet those subscriptions rose every day instead. The numbers show that you care more about quality and like this volume more. You really are all far too twisted.
It's my fault, too. I hadn't written a book in too long, and early on I didn't understand you well enough. I was rusty, so the first two volumes leaned toward a more orthodox, conventional approach. Once I catered to you and let loose in this volume, the praise practically came rolling in like a tide. You've all led me astray.
I've seen the light. Traditional storytelling won't get you anywhere on Qidian these days. You have to be a little more unhinged and innovate more. Readers are all seasoned old hands, each more so than the last. They're tired of ordinary stuff and just want to see something fresh, something they couldn't have thought of themselves.
That said, this kind of unhinged stuff really is hard to write. I'm a respectable person, not as twisted as you lot. While writing this volume, I had to forcibly swap out my brain and put myself in the shoes of such extraordinary specimens as Bone-Scraping Blade and Thousand Faces, then choose the most extraordinary moves among the extraordinary.
