The man before him was a towering divine mountain that pierced the clouds, its summit nowhere in sight.
"I... I only... wanted to make Kirigakure better..."
"Better?" Gekkō Raito scoffed, his lips full of mockery. "Your idea of better is to seize power from the representative I appointed and turn all of Kirigakure into your puppet?"
The man was scared out of his wits and hurriedly waved his hands. "N-no! That's absolutely not what we meant..."
"No? With all these people you've mobilized, isn't forcing the leadership's hand exactly what you're doing?"
Gekkō Raito could not be bothered to hear any more nonsense. His gaze swept across the room like a blade before finally settling on the Second Mizukage and the oldest elder.
He slowly walked up to the elder, gently raised his hand, and rested it on the old man's shoulder.
Already frail with age, the elder instantly felt as though a mountain were pressing down on his shoulder. It seemed that if Gekkō Raito applied even the slightest bit more force, his old bones would fall apart on the spot.
Strangely, however, that force remained right at the breaking point. Such exquisite control over his strength sent towering waves of shock through the elder's heart.
He had never expected Gekkō Raito to reach such a level in the short time since they had last met.
"Little Raito... I actually..."
Gekkō Raito cut him off, his tone calm but unquestionable. "There's no need to explain, Elder. Go back and rest. From today onward, you needn't trouble yourself with any of Kirigakure's affairs, great or small. At your age, wouldn't it be nice to go home and enjoy spending time with your grandchildren?"
