Ch. 3Puzzle

Suguru Geto asked Satoru Gojo what he would do if Geto committed something terrible, and Gojo promised to beat him up and bring him back. Geto then began investigating the special grade cursed spirit that would kill Yu Haibara, finding evidence it had been active around Zama for months and had lured him into a trap.

  • Suguru Geto concluded that the cursed spirit had been active around Zama since July and had lured Yu Haibara into a prepared hunting ground.

Ch. 4Cracks

Suguru Geto arranged to accompany Yu Haibara on the dangerous Zama mission, concealing his knowledge of Haibara’s fate behind a gut feeling. Satoru Gojo joined them as well, while Geto struggled with his memories and fear that he would repeat his future mistakes.

  • Suguru Geto found Yu Haibara and Kento Nanami in the corridor and told Haibara he would join his September mission in Zama.
  • Kento Nanami questioned whether the mission was really grade 2, and Suguru Geto promised to explain when the time was right.
  • Suguru Geto met Satoru Gojo beneath the cherry tree and admitted he had a bad feeling about Haibara’s mission.
  • Satoru Gojo confronted Suguru Geto about how fearfully he watched his friends and promised to keep asking if Geto ever became someone he did not recognize.

  • Satoru Gojo visited Suguru Geto the night before the mission, accepted that Geto would not explain how he knew danger was coming, and promised to stand in front of him.

Ch. 6Zama

Suguru Geto, Satoru Gojo, and Yu Haibara traveled to Zama City to investigate disappearances in an abandoned factory district. After finding evidence that the curse was far more dangerous than its Grade 2 classification, Suguru located its hidden lair and agreed to let Haibara accompany him inside.

  • Suguru Geto prepared for the mission, and Satoru Gojo and Yu Haibara met him before dawn to travel to Zama City.
  • The assistant supervisor identified the abandoned factory district as the site of several disappearances, and Satoru Gojo sensed malice that suggested the curse was not Grade 2.
  • Suguru Geto ordered Yu Haibara to stay within five meters of him and not act recklessly.
  • Suguru Geto sent hundreds of cursed spirits to search the factory district and found a void-like area on the second basement level.
  • Suguru Geto planned to enter the basement while Satoru Gojo guarded the outside, but Yu Haibara insisted on going with Suguru and staying close.
  • Suguru Geto agreed to take Yu Haibara into the building with him.

Ch. 7Battle

  • Satoru Gojo arrived and used [Blue] to pull Geto back from the curse’s influence, while Haibara wept beside him.
  • Geto lost consciousness knowing Haibara had survived and that remnants of the cursed spirit still lingered within him.

Ch. 8Idiot

Suguru Geto woke in Jujutsu High's infirmary after taking a Special Grade Cursed Spirit's attack to protect Haibara, and learned that its foreign essence was spreading through his Cursed Energy Core. Satoru Gojo confronted him about nearly dying, and Geto resolved not to lose the friends he had once destroyed his life with again.

  • Suguru Geto thanked Satoru Gojo, who fell asleep beside his bed as the foreign object remained dormant in Geto’s core.

Ch. 10Settling

After recovering from the Zama mission, Suguru Geto discovered that the cursed spirit’s remnants were still alive inside his cursed energy core and growing. As Geto and Satoru Gojo discussed the strange light they had seen in Riko Amanai’s departing soul, Gojo promised to find a way to protect Geto.

  • Suguru Geto left the infirmary with Yu Haibara, whose survival had prompted Jujutsu High to require third-year escorts for younger students on Grade 2 or higher missions.
  • Geto sensed a living, pulsing remnant deep in his cursed energy core and worried that it might turn him into something neither human nor cursed spirit.
  • Kento Nanami delivered the Zama report, which recommended posthumously conferring Special Grade Sorcerer status on Geto, and told him that Haibara had become fearful and cautious.
  • Geto told Nanami that fear could help Haibara stay safe, and reflected that saving his life had left him with a chance to regain his courage.
  • Gojo told Geto that the light within him resembled the light he had seen when Riko Amanai’s soul left her body, and promised to listen if Geto ever revealed a seemingly unbelievable secret.

  • Suguru Geto absorbed the cursed spirit and experienced its memories of children, a teacher, and cherry blossoms.
  • Suguru Geto completed the mission, and the presence in his core pulsed after the cursed spirit was absorbed.

Ch. 12The other side

Suguru Geto realized the Grade 2 cursed spirit he had absorbed was born from loss rather than negative emotions, and its memories resonated with his own. After Satoru Gojo accepted the discovery and promised to face the mysterious thing growing inside Geto with him, Geto began to see beauty and light even in cursed spirits and himself.

  • Suguru Geto sensed the spirit’s fragments of memories and realized it had formed from the sadness of a school closing and the loss of its community.
  • Satoru Gojo brought Geto curry and noticed that the new spirit’s cursed energy was unusually orderly.
  • Geto told Gojo that he believed the spirit had been born from the neutral emotion of loss, and Gojo recognized it as a new kind of cursed spirit.
  • Gojo said that nothing between them had changed, then promised to face the mysterious thing inside Geto with him if he could not remove it.
  • After Gojo left, Geto reflected on the spirit’s words and saw that the world contained beauty and light alongside darkness.

Ch. 13Training

Ch. 15Best friends

Masamichi Yaga confronted Suguru Geto about the foreign object growing in his cursed energy core and the Jujutsu Association’s plan to assess him. Suguru agreed not to carry his burden alone, though he still concealed the truth, and Satoru Gojo promised to stand by his best friend.

  • A Jujutsu Association representative asked Masamichi Yaga to restrict Suguru Geto’s missions and allow a specialist to assess him because Geto’s cursed energy had spiked three times.
  • Masamichi Yaga refused to let the Association approach Geto before speaking with him and summoned him to his office.
  • Suguru Geto told Yaga that a foreign object in his cursed energy core grew by consuming energy from the Cursed Spirit Orbs he swallowed.
  • Geto said he would not let the object control him and hoped someone could stop him if it did; Yaga promised to support him and urged him not to bear it alone.
  • Satoru Gojo met Geto outside the Administration Building, said he would stand between Geto and the Association, and called him his one and only best friend.

Ch. 16Weight

Masamichi Yaga learned that a foreign presence in Suguru Geto's cursed energy core was growing by absorbing cursed energy, while Suguru kept up his usual routine. On the hill, Yu Haibara reassured Suguru that he would support him, but Suguru remained uncertain whether he would still be himself if the presence grew further.

  • Masamichi Yaga reviewed Suguru Geto's spotless mission report and asked Shoko Ieiri about his condition.
  • Shoko told Masamichi Yaga that a growing foreign presence had been in Suguru Geto's cursed energy core since the Zama mission and absorbed energy whenever he swallowed a Cursed Spirit Orb.

  • Yu Haibara joined Suguru Geto on the hill and asked whether he had been feeling unwell.
  • Suguru Geto asked Yu Haibara what he would do if something unknown lived inside him, and Yu Haibara said he would find a way to live with it while remaining himself.
  • Yu Haibara promised to stand by Suguru Geto, who wondered whether he would remain himself if the presence replaced his heart.

Ch. 17The observer

Jujutsu Association observers monitored Suguru Geto after assigning Yuka Matsumoto to accompany him on a mission, where she recorded an abnormal cursed energy fluctuation when he absorbed a Cursed Spirit. That night, the entity growing inside Suguru Geto glowed, and Yuka Matsumoto detected its growth from outside his dormitory.

  • Masamichi Yaga challenged three Jujutsu Association observers, but their official order required one to accompany Suguru Geto on every assignment.
  • Suguru Geto traveled to an abandoned hospital in Isehara with Matsumoto and absorbed a Grade 2 Cursed Spirit while she recorded his data.
  • Matsumoto told Suguru Geto that his cursed energy had spiked abnormally when he swallowed the Cursed Spirit Orb.
  • Satoru Gojo brought Suguru Geto curry, promised to stand by him, and revealed that Matsumoto was a senior analyst with the cursed technique [Datafication].
  • Suguru Geto realized the entity inside him was changing him as it grew, while the entity's light shone through his body.
  • Yuka Matsumoto monitored the dormitory from outside and detected that the entity had grown and was glowing.

Ch. 18A four-line poem

As Suguru Geto’s mysterious inner presence continued to grow, he avoided the Association’s observer and admitted to Yu Haibara that he might not be able to stay much longer. Masamichi Yaga and Satoru Gojo resolved to protect him, while an anonymous poetry book left Geto with an unsettling four-line poem.

  • Yuka Matsumoto recommended suspending Suguru Geto’s Special Grade status, but Masamichi Yaga refused and kept the report private.
  • Suguru Geto avoided the observer by taking time off, while Satoru Gojo watched the growing light inside him.
  • Yu Haibara returned from a solo mission, shared strawberry daifuku with Suguru Geto, and heard him say he might not be able to stay much longer.
  • Satoru Gojo told Masamichi Yaga that an egg inside Suguru Geto was absorbing his cursed energy and might kill him when it hatched.
  • Shoko Ieiri said she could not remove the egg without destroying Geto’s cursed energy core, and Masamichi Yaga vowed to support his student.
  • Suguru Geto received an unsigned poetry book whose first poem described a borrowed light.

Ch. 19Borrowed Light

Suguru Geto searched for a way to remove the egg fused with his cursed energy core and discovered a theoretical Soul-Splitting Technique that required the ability to see souls inside a body. He and Satoru Gojo could not use it yet, and Geto left the archive hiding how little time he believed he had.

  • Suguru Geto bandaged Yu Haibara's injured hand and told him that strength meant being able to protect others.
  • Satoru Gojo told Suguru Geto about their January mission against a special grade cursed spirit and warned that fighting it could make the egg inside him grow.
  • Suguru Geto searched Jujutsu High's old archive for a way to remove the egg, and Satoru Gojo joined him on the third day.
  • Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo found notes describing the theoretical Soul-Splitting Technique, which required seeing souls inside a body; Satoru Gojo said he could not do that yet.
  • Satoru Gojo offered to wait ten years if he could help then, but Suguru Geto said the egg could not wait and kept his reasons to himself.
  • In the falling snow, Suguru Geto told Satoru Gojo he had borrowed something he did not know how to return, and Satoru Gojo told him to keep it.

Ch. 20Deep winter

As Suguru Geto prepared to face a special grade cursed spirit at Mount Asama, the egg inside him continued to grow, and Shoko could not determine whether it was part of his soul. His friends supported him before the December 28 mission, while Satoru Gojo insisted he was watching over him.

  • Kento Nanami told Suguru Geto that Yu Haibara was training harder because he feared failing to protect Geto again.
  • Masamichi Yaga moved the Mount Asama mission forward to December 28 and warned Geto to have Shoko examine him afterward; Geto agreed to go with Satoru Gojo.
  • Shoko told Geto she could not know whether Reverse Cursed Technique could remove the egg unless it hatched, and she admitted she feared the people around her dying.
  • Satoru Gojo confronted Geto about his worsening condition and revealed he had been watching over him since August 15.
  • Yu Haibara, Kento Nanami, Shoko, and Satoru Gojo gave Geto gifts for the mission, including a scarf, mine research, medical supplies, and a highly conductive knife.
