"Cough, cough-!!"
The heart Makarov had only just settled shot straight back into his throat. Unable to catch his breath, he clutched his chest and coughed violently.
The bombshells dropping one after another today were more than his old heart could take.
"Relax, Guild Master! I used to be! Used to!"
Blanc jumped in alarm too and hurried over, patting the old man's back to help him breathe as he hastily added,
"I grew up in Grimoire Heart, but I'd wanted to defect for a long time."
"So when they sent me here as an undercover agent, I defected the moment I reached Magnolia. I haven't contacted them since joining Fairy Tail."
"I just don't know whether they've realized I defected. Nobody's contacted me all these years, either. It's made being an undercover agent completely devoid of excitement."
By the time Makarov had caught his breath and heard this, a vein popped on his forehead.
His mouth twitched hard twice. Finally losing patience, he sprang up and punched Blanc squarely on the head.
"You should have told me that ages ago!!! You idiot!"
"Ow..." Blanc crouched down, clutching his head, a hint of guilt in his voice. "Mostly, it wasn't that big a deal. If you hadn't asked, I'd pretty much have forgotten about it."
"If that isn't a big deal, just how carefree are you?" Makarov spluttered, glaring at him.
After thoroughly giving Blanc a piece of his mind, Makarov dusted off his hands, but soon calmed down.
Just as he had said earlier, he trusted his children.
This boy truly saw his guildmates as family and was kind to his core-Makarov had guessed immediately that there was more to this supposed undercover identity.
