Of the gelatinous substances before him, one mass was murky and filthy black, full of useless dregs. The other gave off a soft, lustrous glow-the purified essence.
Li Mingzhu controlled his soul power, slowly drawing both masses toward himself.
The essence gave off a faint scent of sea salt, while the dregs still smelled as they had in the shop.
These two masses still left Li Mingzhu somewhat puzzled. Unlike the whale rubber from before, its impurities had actually been separated by the flames rather than burned away!
Still, this worked out well. He could take the essence himself, then combine the aphrodisiac dregs with veterinary medicine and feed them to Gangzi.
Li Mingzhu wanted to see just what Yu Xiaogang could use to withstand a combination like that.
Li Mingzhu took out the jade bottles he had prepared beforehand and placed the two masses into separate bottles.
As for the remaining piece of thousand-year whale rubber, after resting, Li Mingzhu processed it in the same way and stored it in jade bottles.
"Ugh! Not enough soul power. I'm so exhausted I feel wrung dry." (He had used his domain to conceal himself, as well as Dragon Flame. With the protagonist's soul power at level fifteen, such heavy consumption was perfectly reasonable.)
"Looks like raising my soul power can't wait!"
Li Mingzhu wiped the sweat from his forehead and murmured self-mockingly.
Then, with everything finished, Li Mingzhu collapsed limply onto the bed.
It was still early, and what he needed most now was a good rest. His eyelids grew heavier and heavier as exhaustion swept through his body. Without another thought, Li Mingzhu sank into a deep sleep.
As time passed, the sky darkened little by little. The sun sank in the west, and evening arrived in the blink of an eye. The light outside the window lost its daytime brilliance, taking on the dusky yellow of twilight.
Twilight crept over the eaves, leaving the room dim. Li Mingzhu's eyelashes fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.
"Ah! That felt great." Li Mingzhu braced his lower back and let out a long, stale breath.
After that long sleep, most of his exhaustion had faded, though his head still felt slightly sluggish from just waking up.
Li Mingzhu felt particularly refreshed now. With his spirits restored, he could have some proper fun with Yu Xiaogang tonight.
Li Mingzhu's plan was simple: first, help Yu Xiaogang break through his bottleneck so that he would bother him less. (Hold off on the criticism; the details come later.)
He was not afraid of Yu Xiaogang, but with Li Mu in tow, he was still rather powerless against the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
Given Yu Xiaogang's selfish nature, he would definitely not return to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan after breaking through his bottleneck. He would study the secret alone, keeping the clan from discovering it.
Yu Xiaogang already loathed those in the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan who looked down on him. He certainly would not want anyone discovering the secret to his breakthrough.
What Li Mingzhu needed to do now was steer Yu Xiaogang toward a mistaken understanding of how to break through his bottleneck!
Li Mingzhu waited a while longer. Outside, the sky had gone completely dark. Night shrouded all of Nuoding City, and lights came on one after another along its streets and alleys.
The grounds of Nuoding Academy were also pitch-black. Most students and staff had already returned to their rooms to rest, leaving only silence behind.
The time was about right, so Li Mingzhu began to move.
With the convenience afforded by the Great Void Domain, Li Mingzhu passed unhurriedly through the academy's residential area and reached Ganzi's quarters without trouble.
Through the window, Li Mingzhu saw Yu Xiaogang inside, writing furiously beneath the lamplight.
He had to admit that Yu Xiaogang could be quite tenacious at times. Though he had no idea what nonsense the man was writing, Yu Xiaogang was the only person nearby still awake at this late hour.
Since he was awake, Li Mingzhu could not be bothered with any tricks to drug him unconscious. He simply used his domain's abilities to sneak up behind Yu Xiaogang, preparing to knock him out with one brutally straightforward palm strike. (The domain's many abilities were described earlier; its spatial concealment was powerful.)
Li Mingzhu's palm strike was difficult enough to block as it was, let alone a sneak attack concealed by his domain. Completely unprepared, Yu Xiaogang soon slipped into a baby's slumber.
For Li Mingzhu, taking Yu Xiaogang down easily was only to be expected. Surely he could not end up being taken down by Ganzi instead? If that happened, he might as well wash his neck and slit his own throat.
Li Mingzhu left the unconscious Yu Xiaogang on the floor for the moment and turned his attention to the manuscript he had been writing. He stepped forward and picked up the pages, their ink still wet.
Yu Xiaogang's handwriting was actually quite good-at least better than his own.
Li Mingzhu flipped through the manuscript, front and back, and found nothing but idle chatter and empty words. He then unfolded the crumpled scraps of paper on the desk.
"Hmph! Yu Xiaogang really has some nerve." Li Mingzhu tapped the desktop.
As it turned out, the crumpled pages contained Yu Xiaogang's attempts to complain to his elderly father.
Perhaps afraid of losing face, Yu Xiaogang had written and discarded them, then written and discarded them again.
In the end, the first page Li Mingzhu had read was filled entirely with Yu Xiaogang's solicitous inquiries about his father's well-being, meant to ease him into the subject.
Once he finished reading, Li Mingzhu paid the papers no further attention and turned his gaze to Yu Xiaogang.
Ganzi lay unconscious on the floor, without the slightest awareness.
Ganzi looked no different from usual. The mask on his face did stand out, though. What normal person wore a mask at home in the middle of the night?
Something was definitely fishy!
Wanting to know why, Li Mingzhu walked over to Ganzi and tore off his mask.
"Holy shit!" Li Mingzhu could not help blurting out at the sight before him.
It truly shocked Li Mingzhu. As far as he remembered, he had not even started messing with Yu Xiaogang yet, had he? And this genius had already done this to himself.
With Yu Xiaogang looking like this, would Bibi Dong even give him the time of day when he went to find her in the future?
Li Mingzhu was intensely curious. Surely Bibi Dong did not have a particular taste for the bizarre!
"Ha ha!" After the shock and curiosity came Li Mingzhu's mockery.
"Scarface!" He had not made anything happen between Ganzi and Scarface, yet Yu Xiaogang had turned himself into Scarface instead.
Though he did not know how Ganzi had managed it, that did nothing to diminish his delight.
Since Yu Xiaogang was already in this state, Li Mingzhu decided to uphold the principle of not wasting a single grain of rice and prepared to plunder every last one of his possessions.
Li Mingzhu lacked many things at present, but what he lacked most was knowledge concerning soul beasts.
As luck would have it, though Yu Xiaogang deserved criticism in every other respect, he did possess a considerable store of knowledge.
Li Mingzhu refused to believe that Yu Xiaogang did not have a few soul beast field guides on him.
He immediately got to work, searching Yu Xiaogang's person.
After some rummaging, Li Mingzhu really did find something. Yu Xiaogang actually had two Space Soul Tools on him!
Li Mingzhu picked up both Space Soul Tools and discovered that one was his old acquaintance, the Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night, while the other was a seal.
Li Mingzhu immediately inspected both Space Soul Tools. The seal's storage space was actually larger than that of the Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night, measuring a full thirty-six cubic meters.
Now Li Mingzhu understood why Yu Xiaogang would give the Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night to Tang San so readily in the future. It turned out he had something better in his own hands.
