Su Weiyu kept leafing through the diary. It recorded a great many things, but most concerned how to perform rituals, along with the writer's thoughts and feelings when communicating with Idrisu.
Beyond that, there was nothing else, almost no information useful to their current situation.
There were plenty more diaries like it, all stored in document envelopes. Going through them one by one would clearly take considerable time, and they certainly did not have enough time to study them at leisure inside this Death Domain.
"There's too much. We can't possibly read it all." Su Weiyu sighed heavily.
"Isn't there anything valuable in there? Like how this hospital became a Closed Domain? It was clearly a real-world building originally. Something must have happened to turn it into a domain," Xia Shou asked, pressing for details.
Su Weiyu shook her head. "Apart from the earliest entries, which were fairly useful, the later ones are far too emotional. Some days' entries are even written in a strange language I don't recognize. There are also a lot of corrections. I suspect his mind was already going at this point."
Xia Shou bit his nails, frantically trying to think of a solution.
Could they really not find anything useful in here?
Just then, that wisp of hazy mist appeared out of thin air again, coalescing into the blurred shape of a girl.
The ghost girl pointed at one of the document envelopes, as though guiding them.
"Check the diaries in that one," Xia Shou said immediately.
Xia Shou believed the ghost girl was there to help them.
The doctors guarded the archive, yet the ghost girl had let them enter it and obtain records of this Closed Domain's origins.
Without a doubt, she and those doctors were on opposing sides.
Su Weiyu immediately took the diaries out of the envelope and spread them across the grass.
Like a child choosing an object in a picking ceremony, the ghost girl moved her hand back and forth over the diaries before finally choosing one.
Su Weiyu opened it and quickly flipped through the pages. Before long, she found the crucial information!
[I feel they're about to find me. Now I'm certain my earlier strategy was correct.
Their organization is unimaginably powerful, far beyond anything I can stand against!
But today I met someone who seems to know that world very well.
He told me that the organization investigating me is called the Containment Bureau, an extremely powerful force in the supernatural world. They deal with hundreds, even thousands, of people like me every year.
The only reason I haven't been arrested yet is that I still pose very little danger to society.
"You'll be caught soon. Those officials and wealthy patients have been acting far too strangely. Did you really expect them to keep your secret? They can't wait to show the whole world the health they've just regained," the stranger said.
At first, I didn't really believe him, but then he showed me his power.
Unlike the miraculous arts I obtained by praying to Idrisu, his power is something entirely different... He is definitely far more dangerous than I am!
Fortunately, he seems to be here to help me. He said he would buy me some time and keep the Containment Bureau from coming after me right away. During that time, I must complete an essential ritual so I can escape their pursuit for good.
...A Closed Domain.
He told me about it.
"As long as you can turn the sanatorium into a Closed Domain, it won't matter even if the Containment Bureau discovers it. A lion can't squeeze into a mole's burrow."
The man explained in detail how to create a Closed Domain, laying out its advantages and disadvantages very clearly. I feel he has been honest with me.
After weighing the pros and cons, I believe this is the only way to keep Enya alive.
It's almost time. I have to go see him. He meets me at a fixed time every day to teach me the finer details of constructing a domain.
I'm feeling a little overexcited tonight. I think I'd better take some medicine first, so I don't miss our meeting.]
"So this hospital escaped the Containment Bureau's investigation in the end?" Xia Shou rubbed his chin, lost in thought.
Judging by the outcome, the hospital director had succeeded. This hellhole really had become a Closed Domain.
This diary entry revealed a great deal of inside information, but none of that concerned Xia Shou.
Right now, he only wanted to get out. The specific rules governing this domain had to be written in there somewhere.
"Look for his entries after he constructed the domain. There might be a way out in those."
"I just reached that part." Su Weiyu glanced at Xia Shou.
With that, Su Weiyu continued reading.
[It worked!
I've constructed a perfect domain system. Now even people from the Containment Bureau won't make it out alive if they come in here!
Although the resentment of those discarded raw materials caused a few unexpected complications, the final result actually made my domain even more threatening and lethal!
The avatar Idrisu sent here does not possess much combat strength, so I assigned five full-fledged doctors to specialize in treating those people's eyes, ears, hands, feet, and hearts.
I also made the five of them guardians of the sanatorium, responsible for ensuring Idrisu's working environment. Then ■■■█▊▊◆■● (a long passage written in a strange language, impossible to decipher)...
Anyone who sets foot in the sanatorium without being a staff member will become raw material, available for Idrisu's medical use at any time.
Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful! My sanatorium is the most perfect sanctuary of medicine!
As long as Idrisu does not stop treating patients, no one can leave this place!]
"What does that mean?" Xia Shou asked in confusion.
"It says no one can leave, but Liu Dong said earlier that the exit was on the other side." Su Weiyu looked equally puzzled.
Xia Shou handed Wang Long the diary Su Weiyu had been reading aloud. After reading it, Wang Long frowned. "In other words, if we want to leave, we have to stop Idrisu from continuing the treatments."
"Easy to say, but will it be that easy to do?" Xia Shou was skeptical.
The strength of a Closed Domain lay in its overwhelming Anomaly Level. Yet Blood Rampage had still worked when Xia Shou fought that anomalous patient earlier, which meant the patient's level had not been particularly high.
If all the monsters in this sanatorium were at that level, getting out would be far too easy.
Clearly, the whole affair would not be that simple.
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out inside Xia Shou's mind!
"You have Abyssal Diving Syndrome. If you keep going like this, your condition will worsen. I can cure it for you."
It was this
sort of rational, assured, raspy voice that irresistibly brought to mind the harsh cry of a bird.
Immediately afterward,
in the next instant, a clear, definite piece of knowledge suddenly appeared out of nowhere in Xia Shou's mind!
Before you continue
