Overcoming Acrophobia

As the roller coaster began to accelerate, Lin Chen spoke honestly to Qin Xueqing.

Qin Xueqing looked at Lin Chen. So this guy had long seen that she was afraid, and he had kept provoking her into getting on just so she could overcome her weakness.

Qin Xueqing said nothing and merely nodded. She was clearly still very nervous.

"We're about to go uphill."

Guo Xiang, sitting behind them, reminded her.

The moment she heard they were going uphill, Qin Xueqing's heart leaped into her throat and her breathing quickened. The coaster moved relatively slowly during the ascent, but all around her was empty space—nothing but air, blue sky, and white clouds. Qin Xueqing realized that she was perched atop a peak, as though she were sitting on the clouds with nothing beneath her. Her heart turned ice-cold, and she was terrified beyond measure.

That was what acrophobia felt like—a psychological issue. To overcome it, she had to confront it. The more afraid she was, the worse the symptoms would become.
