The Warm Winter Sea.
The central region of Green Island.
The players here were facing an unprecedented crisis. They had come under siege by the Radiant Holy Church, at a time when the Island Governor had transferred away large numbers of elite players and even taken the Gramophone along.
With only the island's players, Plant People, and Robot troops, they could not organize an effective resistance. Even the chain of command was in utter disarray. With the system's chat function disabled, those in charge of the various regions were either out of contact or simply dead. The entire island hung by a thread and was falling rapidly.
The planned defensive lines and outposts were practically useless against the Goddess Statues in the sky, which were comparable to space-based weapons. If the forest had not provided shelter and hiding places, the players on the island would probably have been wiped out by now.
"Damn it, enemies are everywhere! Those Blind Believers won't die. Shine some light on them and they're alive again! How are we supposed to fight this battle? We could even be turned into Blind Believers just by exposing ourselves!"
An officer spoke, his eyes filled with despair. His hand had gone white around his gun, and his grip was so strong that even the gun had warped slightly. His stats were clearly far from low.
Yet on a battlefield like this, he had no chance to put them to use. He could be exposed and converted into a Blind Believer at any moment.
Another armed soldier took a more drastic approach. Gritting his teeth, he steeled himself, drew the pistol at his waist, and aimed it straight at his own chin, intending to avoid becoming a Blind Believer this way.
Dead people, after all, would not be converted
