Ch. 61Selling

After the island sank, Yang Yi headed for the Extreme Winter Sea and spent two days making Tinder Wool Sweaters to sell. With his earnings, he planned to upgrade his equipment and stock supplies, while arranging more potions from Su Na.

  • Yang Yi sailed toward the Extreme Winter Sea after the island and the Limb Spider's Book-or Temple disappeared beneath the sea.
  • Yang Yi finished 31 Tinder Wool Sweaters and sold them to Yu Dawei, Xu Da, other interested players, and Shen Guanquan.
  • Xu Da told Yang Yi that the Extreme Winter Sea had dangerous ice floes, freezing temperatures, scarce fishing, and a white fog farther in.
  • He Qi showed Yang Yi his Fluffy Seal Fur Coat and explained that his ship's fishing skills helped him catch fish and rare items.
  • Yang Yi's sales raised his balance to 76,800 Conch Coins, and he transferred 6,800 to Su Na while asking her to make another Crimson Potion.
  • Yang Yi kept the Vitality Coconut Juice Refresher for Su Na and began shopping for equipment, weapons, and food.

Ch. 62A shopping spree

Yang Yi stocked up on food and dried fruit for the coming Extreme Winter Sea, then searched the market for a long weapon to help him fight large creatures. He narrowed his choices to three Fine-quality weapons but had not bought one when a seller offered him a colossal sword relic.

  • Yang Yi bought 200 loaves of Black Bread, 100 sausages, and 2.5 kilograms of dried apples to prepare for the Extreme Winter Sea.
  • Yang Yi advertised for a long melee weapon after realizing his short weapons made it hard to fight large creatures.
  • Yang Yi narrowed his weapon choices to a great horse-slaying saber, a two-handed greatsword, and a refined steel spear.
  • Yang Yi favored the two-handed greatsword, but its seller refused to lower the 20,000-Conch-Coin price.
  • A player privately messaged Yang Yi to offer a colossal sword relic.

Ch. 63Broken Iron

Yang Yi bought the Relic greatsword Broken Iron after bargaining with its seller, then discovered it was haunted by a Fear Spirit that drained Sanity. His frenzy state made him immune to the spirit, which soon gave up and returned to the sword.

  • Yang Yi inspected Broken Iron and learned that it required extreme Strength to wield and came with unknown side effects.
  • Yang Yi bargained the seller down to 38,000 Conch Coins and received the greatsword from the Octopus-Head Gacha Machine.
  • The seller warned Yang Yi to wrap Broken Iron in cloth when it was not in use, then blocked him before explaining further.
  • A Fear Spirit emerged from the sword's reflection and repeatedly passed through Yang Yi, reducing his Sanity by 5 each time.
  • Yang Yi entered a frenzy state when his Sanity fell below 50, resisted the Fear Spirit's attacks, and watched it return to Broken Iron.

Ch. 64Enhancing weapons

Yang Yi prepared for the Extreme Winter Sea by buying cold-weather supplies and armor-piercing arrows, then enhanced the Sea Serpent's Fang into a Treasured weapon with a fire attack. The Nightmare Star was two days from the new sea as Yang Yi continued fishing and considered how to improve Su Na's combat power.

  • Yang Yi wrapped Broken Iron and stored it, then bought flint, down clothing, padded hats, and fleece-lined boots with his remaining funds.
  • The next day, Yang Yi fished from the Nightmare Star and discovered that the Captain's Skeleton was only a decoration.
  • Unable to afford a strong bow, Yang Yi bought 40 triangular armor-piercing arrows for Su Na and left them in her room.
  • Yang Yi used the Low-Tier Artisan Inscribed Stone to enhance the Sea Serpent's Fang.
  • The enhanced Scorching Sea Serpent's Fang gained the ability to release a fan of flames, though doing so left it dull for a time.

Ch. 65The skeletal arms' clever uses

Yang Yi discovered that the Nightmare Star’s skeletal arms could help with tasks and started using fire to cook fish, while Su Na put the arms to work in her laboratory. Three days later, as the ship neared the Extreme Winter Sea, Yang Yi awoke from a disturbing nightmare and found the weather already turning cold.

  • Yang Yi lit a campfire in the Atrium and found that skeletal arms could respond to his needs, holding fish and Eyeball Fruits over the flames.
  • Yang Yi learned that Su Na already used the skeletal arms as laboratory assistants and saw that she was raising juvenile Tinder Wool Spiders for experiments.
  • Three days later, Yang Yi awoke from a nightmare of a woman’s face growing from his shoulder, lost 10 Sanity, and resolved to avoid the Witch Laboratory.
  • Yang Yi checked the weather and saw that temperatures had fallen to 2–7°C before the Nightmare Star entered the Extreme Winter Sea.

Ch. 66The man with hair covering his face

Yang Yi caught an Iron-Crowned Jellyfish and used its hardened head as a pot before spotting a strange, long-haired figure crawling on an island near the Extreme Winter Sea. He and Su Na planned to investigate the figure the next day, while Yang Yi wondered what had happened to its ship.

  • Su Na bundled up against the cold, and Yang Yi exercised and checked the fish drying over the fire.
  • Yang Yi caught an Iron-Crowned Jellyfish, discovered its melted body numbed his tongue, and saved the liquid as Sichuan pepper oil while keeping its hard head as a pot.
  • Yang Yi spotted an island on the Sea Chart, changed course, and sailed toward it.
  • Yang Yi saw a boat and a green-eyed figure with a plaid shirt crawling near the island’s shore, then called Su Na to look.
  • Su Na suspected the figure’s body had changed and suggested catching and dissecting it, but Yang Yi sailed away until morning.
  • Yang Yi considered why the figure’s ship was missing and speculated that the system reclaimed ships after their owners died.

Ch. 67Going ashore

Yang Yi and Su Na went ashore on the island and discovered that its strange inhabitants were half-werewolves infected with feral wolf disease. After killing a second group, they prepared to take an intact corpse back to the Nightmare Star for study.

  • Yang Yi fired a cannon at two half-werewolves on the shore, killing them before he and Su Na landed on the island.
  • Su Na examined one corpse and concluded that feral wolf disease was likely transmitted through wounds, then stored the body for laboratory study.
  • Three more half-werewolves charged from the woods, and Yang Yi and Su Na killed them with a Flintlock, the Sea Serpent's Fang, and armor-piercing arrows.
  • Su Na returned to the Nightmare Star while Yang Yi dragged the surviving hairy half-werewolf's corpse into position for the grappling claw to haul aboard.

Ch. 68The Radiant Goddess Ship

Yang Yi investigated the half-werewolf corpses on the island and found signs that Zhou Dai’s expedition had ended in disaster. He located Zhou Dai’s invisible Radiant Goddess Ship offshore, then decided to return to shore and cautiously investigate the island.

  • Yang Yi searched the half-werewolf corpses and found survival gear, Holy Water, and clues suggesting they had been well equipped.
  • Yang Yi recalled Zhou Dai’s plan to tackle a Werewolf island and suspected the corpses belonged to her expedition, though their intact bodies did not fit a Werewolf attack.
  • Yang Yi contacted Zhou Dai and confirmed her account was still active, then used Peering to locate the Radiant Goddess Ship near the island.
  • Yang Yi used Three Eyes to see the invisible ship, but a force field stopped him from boarding it.
  • Yang Yi concluded that Zhou Dai was probably on the island and chose to continue exploring despite the danger.
  • Yang Yi returned the Nightmare Star to shore and planned to investigate the corpses before approaching the ancient ship on the island.

Ch. 69The wolves' den

Yang Yi investigated the half-werewolves’ den, where he found human remains and a hidden cache of weapons and armor. He left with the equipment and growing questions about the battle that had taken place on the island.

  • Yang Yi asked Su Na whether she could make a poison to kill the island’s werewolves, but she warned that their fast metabolism made toxins ineffective and cautioned him about mad wolf disease.
  • Yang Yi suited up and returned to the island, where he shot a scavenging Sea Crow and followed the half-werewolves’ tracks and food scraps into the woods.
  • Yang Yi found the half-werewolves’ den and identified bones belonging to at least eight players; a cleanly cut vertebra led him to wonder whether there had been infighting or other creatures on the island.
  • Yang Yi discovered a cache of weapons and armor beneath the den’s branches, including a Hunting Bow he thought would suit Su Na and a Chainmail he put on.
  • Yang Yi tested a repeating crossbow, stored the recovered equipment in his Stomach Pouch, and left to look for traces of the island’s battlefield.

Ch. 70Holy Casket

Yang Yi investigated the island battlefield and pieced together how a massacre and the spread of Feral Wolf Disease might be connected to the players who landed there. He found a Holy Casket that seemed to have held a living creature, but his Stomach Pouch refused to store it, so he carried it toward the giant ship to search for more clues.

  • Yang Yi found signs that players had defeated the werewolves, buried their dead, and later turned into half-werewolves after contracting Feral Wolf Disease.
  • Yang Yi discovered a Gray Werewolf's Claw and reasoned that the werewolves had been driven off, though he found no bodies.
  • Yang Yi followed bloody tracks near the ancient giant ship and concluded that a massacre had occurred, with half-werewolves dragging away five bodies.
  • Yang Yi found an open Holy Casket and suspected that opening it had released a living creature responsible for the massacre.
  • Yang Yi tried to put the Holy Casket into the Stomach Pouch, but it spat the casket out, so he carried it toward the giant ship.

Ch. 71Setting a fire

Yang Yi killed a reanimated Gray Werewolf outside the enormous ship and discovered that a necromancer was likely nearby. He entered the ship cautiously and found five human heads preserved in glass jars.

  • Yang Yi spotted the wounded Gray Werewolf charging at him, then fought it with Flame Spray, a Flintlock shot, and the Sea Serpent's Fang until it died.
  • Yang Yi found a silver bullet in the Werewolf's mouth and learned that a caster had revived its corpse with Necromancy.
  • Yang Yi stored the charred wolf head, recovered with Holy Water, and climbed into the enormous ship through a cleared window.
  • Yang Yi found the ship's interior unusually orderly and saw five human heads soaking in glass jars on a cleaned shelf.

Ch. 72The Evil Witch

Yang Yi explored the enormous ship, discovered it had belonged to Radiant Church Knights transporting a witch, and learned that the crew had succumbed to a strange disease. The chapter ended when a woman appeared behind him and accused him of killing her watchdog.

  • Yang Yi found preserved human heads and rotting organs aboard the ship, initially suspecting a witch had used it as a laboratory.
  • Yang Yi discovered a platform where the sacred coffer had likely rested and inspected the ruined equipment of the Radiant Church Knights.
  • Yang Yi learned Common Human Language and read a parchment describing the knights' capture of a witch, their shipwreck, and a disease that transformed the crew.
  • Yang Yi learned that the parchment's writer had guarded the sacred coffer while his mind and body deteriorated, and realized the ship had belonged to the Radiant Church Knights.
  • A woman with her eyes shut appeared behind Yang Yi, accused him of killing her watchdog, and Yang Yi fired his Flintlock without turning around.

Ch. 73Invasion

Yang Yi fought a Brain-Eating Demon that attacked him aboard a decaying ship and tried to take control of his body. He regained control of some of his limbs and continued punching the creature rather than surrendering.

  • Yang Yi blocked the Brain-Eating Demon's sickle strike, then fired in Cannon Mode and blasted through the ship, but the creature dodged and clung to his shoulder.
  • The Brain-Eating Demon burrowed tentacles into Yang Yi's neck and began invading his nervous system, causing him to lose control of his limbs.
  • Yang Yi repeatedly headbutted the creature, disrupting its control and injuring its face.
  • Yang Yi regained partial control, charged into a tree to strike the Brain-Eating Demon, and freed his right hand.
  • Yang Yi punched the Brain-Eating Demon in the eye and refused to give up his body, despite her warning that he could be crippled.

Ch. 74A clash of nervous systems

Yang Yi used the Limb Restoration Spell to fuse the Brain-Eating Demon to his left shoulder and seized partial control of her body. As he began losing their battle of wills, he considered invoking the Mother of Ten Thousand Limbs, terrifying the Brain-Eating Demon.

  • Yang Yi lost control of his body while the Brain-Eating Demon prepared to invade his brain and trap him in a dream.
  • Yang Yi cast the Limb Restoration Spell, stitching the Brain-Eating Demon onto his left shoulder and gaining control of her body and tentacles.
  • Yang Yi and the Brain-Eating Demon fought over control of the tentacles, but Yang Yi gradually lost ground as his thoughts slowed.
  • The Brain-Eating Demon realized Yang Yi belonged to the Limb Spider Cult after hearing his thoughts about its spells.
  • Yang Yi considered using the Mother of Ten Thousand Limbs Invocation Spell to offer the Brain-Eating Demon to the deity, and she cried out in terror.

Ch. 75The light of Truth

Yang Yi prepared to summon the Mother of Ten Thousand Limbs to destroy the Brain-Eating Demon, but she stopped him and introduced herself as Lady Ronette. She gave him the Stone of Truth for Su Na and asked him to kill her after sharing a drink.

  • The Brain-Eating Demon read Yang Yi’s thoughts, withdrew her tentacles, and shared her vision so he could see.
  • Lady Ronette explained that the Radiant Church Knights had captured her after Pete betrayed her, and that she had transformed herself into a Brain-Eating Demon to survive.
  • Ronette described witches as scholars pursuing Truth and gave Yang Yi the Stone of Truth, intending him to pass it to Su Na.
  • Ronette asked Yang Yi how he viewed Otherworldly Demons, then poured him a drink and asked him to keep his promise to kill her.

Ch. 76Death

Yang Yi killed Ronette after she asked him to end her life before she became a monster, then freed himself from her and recovered. He was preparing to contact Su Na when Zhou Dai appeared among the shipwreck, and they confirmed each other’s identities.

  • Ronette explained that she feared becoming a Brain-Eating Demon and asked Yang Yi to kill her before she ate her fifth human brain.
  • Yang Yi concealed his thoughts and suddenly stabbed Ronette in the temple with the Sea Serpent's Fang, killing her.
  • Yang Yi cut Ronette's head from his shoulder, drank a Regeneration Potion, and checked that his sanity remained above the danger threshold.
  • Yang Yi heard a woman in the wreckage and suspected she was the missing Zhou Dai.
  • Yang Yi identified himself as captain of the Nightmare Star, and Zhou Dai verified his identity through their chat history.

Ch. 77Zhou Dai, Part One

Zhou Dai recounted how she gathered a team to complete the Oath Prerequisite Quest and lost them after they killed the Werewolf. In the present, she asked Yang Yi to free her from the wreckage, but he first raised the question of how they would divide the loot.

  • Several days earlier, Zhou Dai recruited thirteen teammates for the Oath Prerequisite Quest after discovering the sacred reliquary on the island guarded by a Werewolf.
  • Zhou Dai's team killed the Werewolf at the cost of three lives, but the Brain-Eating Demon aboard the giant ship wiped out the rest of them.
  • Yang Yi and Zhou Dai exchanged accounts of what had happened on the island, and Zhou Dai realized he had defeated the Werewolf and Brain-Eating Demon alone.
  • Zhou Dai explained that a plank had pinned her left ankle in the wreckage and asked Yang Yi to rescue her.
  • Zhou Dai secretly aimed White Rose at Yang Yi to test whether he was blind, then lowered it and asked for help.
  • Yang Yi delayed freeing Zhou Dai and asked them to agree on who would get the loot, pointing out that he had killed the reanimated Werewolf and Brain-Eating Demon.

Ch. 78Zhou Dai, Part Two

Yang Yi and Zhou Dai negotiated over the Holy Casket and Brain-Eating Demon’s corpse, then escaped the wreckage after Yang Yi amputated Zhou Dai’s crushed ankle. He used restorative magic to replace her missing foot, leaving them ready to continue their business together.

  • Zhou Dai offered Yang Yi Treasured equipment in exchange for the Holy Casket and Brain-Eating Demon’s corpse, and Yang Yi agreed after bargaining for 10,000 Conch Coins.
  • Yang Yi discovered Zhou Dai’s left ankle had been crushed and cut it off so they could escape the unstable wreckage.
  • Zhou Dai used her blessing talent on Yang Yi, restoring his sanity and energy and ending his frenzy.
  • Zhou Dai recovered the Holy Casket and gathered a damaged right foot and rotten flesh from the wreckage.
  • Yang Yi cast Limb Restoration Spell, attaching the right foot to Zhou Dai’s left leg and restoring her ability to walk.

Ch. 79A strange prayer

Yang Yi returned to the Nightmare Star with Su Na after growing suspicious of Zhou Dai’s unnatural pulse and behavior. Zhou Dai went back to the Radiant Goddess Ship to pray, unaware that she was transforming into a Brain-Eating Demon.

  • Zhou Dai paid Yang Yi for healing her foot by trading the Twilight Veil and twenty thousand Conch Coins for the Brain-Eating Demon's corpse.
  • Su Na arrived and found Yang Yi sitting closely with Zhou Dai; after Zhou Dai left, Yang Yi explained his suspicions about her abnormally slow pulse and sudden change in behavior.
  • Yang Yi and Su Na hurried back to the Nightmare Star, and Yang Yi asked her to monitor the Radiant Goddess Ship on the Sea Chart.
  • Zhou Dai prayed in the ship’s church before five jars containing her former teammates’ heads, then noticed a slit in her neck secreting pale purple mucus.
  • Unaware of the change to her status, Zhou Dai left the church to complete her trade with Yang Yi as tentacles emerged from her neck.

Ch. 80The Spreading Extreme Cold

As the Extreme Winter Sea spread toward the island, Yang Yi traded Ronette’s corpse to Zhou Dai for the Twilight Veil and decided to sail away in a different direction. He made another draw from the Monster Gacha Machine and was delighted with the result.

  • Yang Yi refused Zhou Dai’s offer to form a fleet and checked the chart as the Extreme Winter Sea rapidly approached the island.
  • Yang Yi kept the Stone of Truth rather than throwing it away or giving it to Su Na, then traded Ronette’s corpse to Zhou Dai for twenty thousand Conch Coins and the Twilight Veil.
  • Yang Yi declined Zhou Dai’s invitation to visit the Radiant Goddess Ship, then decided to leave the island and sail in a different direction from her ship.
  • Yang Yi put a charred Werewolf skull into the Monster Gacha Machine and celebrated the result of his draw.
