After suppressing a disturbance involving Madam Dou at his residence, Zhang Xing decided to cross the river himself to investigate, with Xu Dalang agreeing to protect him.

  • Zhang Xing questioned Xu Dalang and Wei Xuanding about Ji Commandery’s officials and learned that Wang Huaidu was considered an ineffectual governor, while local magnates and military figures might have their own rebel ambitions.
