Made the house disappear?
This was not aboveground, where a house's walls were simply walls. This was underground!
The walls were surrounded by earth and gravel!
The man looked utterly shocked, hardly able to believe what he had seen!
In that instant, the entire brick-and-stone structure had vanished, and he could clearly see the densely packed earth behind the walls.
He even dimly spotted a few bugs in the earth. One struggled to burrow out, only to hit what seemed to be glass, unable to get inside. He also saw the Rose Cross member waiting in the room, wearing a heavy hood and a mask that completely concealed her face. Yet the bewilderment and fear in the gaze she turned toward him told him that what he had seen in that instant was real, not an illusion. V's wheelchair rolled slowly forward. She did not move, yet the door closed behind her, all so naturally.
As though she needed only to form a thought for the world to bend itself to her wishes and make it real.
No matter how outrageous, no matter whether it made sense.
The man stood blankly outside the door. After a long while, he reached out and touched the wall. He hesitated, then pressed his fingers harder, leaving a shallow handprint in the brickwork.
"It really is brick... She... she..."
Meanwhile, Elliot breathed a sigh of relief at the stage.
At least nothing had gone wrong.
V's wheelchair moving on its own looked incredible to others, but Elliot was actually pushing it forward himself.
As for that threshold just now, Elliot had originally only intended to push the wheelchair straight over it.
Seriously, a low little threshold did not even count as a speed bump to a wheelchair he was pushing.
But then Elliot reconsidered.
