The snail was absurdly large, measuring over two meters across, with almost enough room inside to fit a person.
Xixi sniffed the giant snail, then licked its lips.
Although the snail was several times larger than Xixi, Xixi showed no fear at all. It circled the snail several times, seemingly searching for a convenient place to bite.
The snail also seemed to sense that something was wrong and let out a series of threatening hisses.
A plate was faintly visible at the opening of its shell, keeping the seawater out.
Whenever Xixi approached, the plate swung at it like a shield, trying to drive it away.
But it was not very successful.
Soon, Xixi seized an opening and rushed forward.
With a crunch, it bit off a mouthful of shell!
It certainly looked rather unbelievable.
After all, the giant snail's shell was extremely thick, while Xixi looked like nothing more than an ordinary golden-haired dog.
Yet that thick shell failed to withstand even a single bite. It shattered in Xixi's mouth as easily as breakfast cereal.
The giant snail let out a piercing scream, then gave a violent shudder on the sandy seabed.
Its plate opened and closed, churning the seawater and blasting it backward, actually propelling the enormous shell into a rapid retreat!
Xixi raised its head, wagged its tail with interest, and bounded after it.
Though the snail sprinted quickly, its stamina seemed lacking. Xixi soon caught up and opened its mouth again!
-Crunch!
Another chunk of shell was bitten off!
The giant snail screamed again and shot away. This time, it strove to flee farther, even vanishing beyond the limits of sight.
Xixi remained where it was, leisurely chewing the shell. Once it had swallowed everything, it opened its mouth in a grin and twitched its nose.
