As the red light of the offering flashed past, Elliot opened her panel.
"Clara's already at the Third Rank."
Elliot was a little surprised. He had only advanced Clara to the First Rank.
But that was normal enough. Clara was among the first batch of believers to join the Communion, and most of them had been brought up to the Third Rank.
Since offerings were hardly in short supply, even quite a few believers who had joined less than a month ago had reached the Third Rank.
The transition from the Third Rank to the Fourth Rank was a dividing line that required completing an ascension. The vast majority were stuck here.
Elliot looked at her Tree of the Supernatural.
"Huh, Clara actually went down the [Spirit Vision] branch, and put quite a few points into [Rationality] too?"
That surprised Elliot, but after thinking about it, he understood the reasoning behind this allocation.
It was simple. Clara had [Possession], and while possessing someone, she would not take damage.
In other words, she was naturally suited to putting points into paths that were poor at combat, because she did not have to worry about being attacked!
The [Rationality] path excelled at ritual abilities that required preparation time. They were difficult to use during combat, but once used, they could change the course of the battle!
The [Spirit Vision] branch needed even less explanation. Its various mind-control abilities were also unsuited to use in combat, but when Clara used [Possession] on someone else, she could cast them without worry.
Clara was currently splitting her points between [Rationality] and [Spirit Vision], with more going into [Spirit Vision].
Elliot tried selecting advancement to the Fourth Rank. Sure enough, Clara's ascension task was already complete.
That was one advantage of the [Spirit Vision] branch. For
