Even outsiders had heard something of the conflict between ordinary ninja and those with kekkei genkai in Kirigakure.
When Konohagakure was first established, it strictly screened the ninja and clans that wanted to join.
Even so, the Uchiha Clan later caused a major incident.
Kirigakure's problems were even greater. In the beginning, it accepted any ninja or clan that wanted to join.
That sowed the seeds of trouble for what happened later.
The power of kekkei genkai went without saying, but the more powerful a kekkei genkai was, the greater the danger it held.
Any ninja of the Uchiha Clan who wanted to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan had to suffer an extreme shock.
They appeared to have gained greater power, but the problem was that such intense trauma inevitably brought very serious changes to their thinking.
In the better cases, they would not drag others into it.
But if they went to extremes, there was no telling how serious it could become.
There were similar examples in Kirigakure, such as the Kaguya Clan, which possessed the immensely powerful kekkei genkai, Shikotsumyaku!
Whether it was because of Shikotsumyaku or not, the ninja of this clan were utterly deranged and bloodthirsty.
The Kaguya Clan repeatedly stirred up internal turmoil and fighting in Kirigakure, and the village finally wiped them out during their rebellion.
The crucial point was that this sort of thing had happened more than once in Kirigakure.
The conflicts and casualties that erupted one after another, coupled with Obito Uchiha's later control of Karatachi Yagura to secretly sow discord, led to frequent clashes between Kirigakure's ninja and its kekkei genkai clans.
In any case, the final result was that Kirigakure purged most of its kekkei genkai ninja.
Of course, some ninja clans with better reputations or sufficiently high standing survived.
