The Konoha Barrier Team.
"Another quiet, peaceful day."
The Barrier Team's daily routine was always both tense and idle.
As the strongest Shinobi Village at present, it was already a blessing if Konoha did not take the initiative to provoke anyone, let alone have someone attack Konoha.
And so, the Barrier Team's leisurely days were only natural.
Of course, as members of the Barrier Team, even if no one dared to challenge Konoha, they still had to remain ready at all times in case anything unexpected happened.
"Cut the nonsense. Isn't it a good thing that nothing's happening?"
"I'm just a little bored. I feel like I'd be better off going out on missions."
"Tch, you really aren't suited to working on the Barrier Team."
The quiet, peaceful atmosphere had clearly affected the Barrier Team's members. Although none of them were neglecting their duties, their vigilance had relaxed considerably.
"Keep it down, you lot!"
Noticing that his subordinates' muttering was growing louder, the Barrier Team's leader could not help snapping at them.
If any higher-ups came to inspect them and saw how lax they were, they would be in trouble.
"All of you, stay sharp! The shinobi world isn't peaceful at all right now. No one knows what's going to happen next!"
"I'm sure you've all heard about the trouble the Akatsuki has caused!"
"Lord Hokage has already said that Konoha's Nine-Tails Jinchuriki is the only one the Akatsuki hasn't captured yet. They could attack at any moment."
"And we must be fully prepared to report to Lord Hokage the instant we discover the Akatsuki!"
Faced with their leader's reprimand, the Barrier Team's members exchanged glances.
They had indeed heard of the Akatsuki, but deep down, they did not believe the organization had the nerve to cause trouble in Konoha.
