On the smoke-filled battlefield, earthshaking cries of slaughter resounded through the heavens.
"Maintain formation! Keep up the attack! Don't let up for a second!"
"Kill them!"
"Keep up! Combat squads, keep up!"
"Where are the medical ninja? Get over here!"
"Watch out!"
"Help!"
The fighting had reached a fever pitch, and cries rang out one after another across the brutal battlefield.
The Allied Shinobi Forces, which had originally maintained orderly formations, had been thrown into complete chaos by the White Zetsu Army's frenzied onslaught.
The main force had been scattered, leaving the ninja to maintain their combat squad formations as they fought desperately against the enemy.
Still, this was not too much of a disadvantage, mainly because ninja were better suited to fighting in small squads to begin with.
Thus, by a fluke, the battle had shifted into the style of combat the Allied Shinobi Forces were most accustomed to.
But this did not mean that the Third Division, led by Kakashi Hatake, had gained the upper hand. On the contrary, they were already at a disadvantage.
To put it more bluntly, the Third Division was being beaten back by the White Zetsu Army.
The reason was actually very simple: there were far, far too many White Zetsu.
Typically, each ninja had to face not one or two enemies, but dozens of White Zetsu!
Under those circumstances, no matter how weak the White Zetsu were, they were not opponents who could be dealt with easily.
What was more, the Enhanced White Zetsu were not weak. They might not measure up to ninja, but they were not entirely incapable of fighting back.
And, in truth, quite a few ninja had died to the White Zetsu's Wood Release Ninjutsu because they had let their guard down.
