Naruto Uzumaki noticed everyone looking at him and Hinata Hyuga and hurriedly changed the subject. "What about you? Did you find any useful clues or intelligence?"
"No." Everyone shook their heads.
This was trouble.
Everyone had come up empty-handed.
That was a real headache.
Naruto and the others were not afraid of fighting Otsutsuki Toneri to the death, but before they could fight, they had to find him.
Especially since Toneri held a hostage: Hanabi Hyuga.
They had to find a way to rescue Hanabi from him.
That was one of their objectives as well.
Shikamaru Nara looked up at the artificial sun hanging high in the sky.
It was nearly dusk, and another day was about to end, yet they had found nothing despite searching for so long.
They could not go on like this.
He had to think of something.
Before that, though, they had to finish searching the city's central district.
Hinata said something here was calling to her. Perhaps they could find some useful intelligence here.
"Let's split up and investigate. The central district isn't very big. With all eight of us searching, it shouldn't take too long."
"But stay careful."
Naruto hurriedly raised his hand. "I'll stay with Hinata. We still don't know exactly what kind of call she's hearing."
"Something here might be drawing her in."
Shikamaru glanced at Naruto and nodded.
"All right, you two stay together."
"Let's move."
The eight of them spread out across the city's central district and began investigating.
Since the area was small to begin with, they soon found something.
Before long, they gathered again.
They came to what appeared to be a place of worship and examined the writing inscribed on a sculpture by lamplight.
"What kind of writing is this? I don't recognize any of it."
