"Huh?"
Hearing that he was supposed to control fire directly, Aang lost his confidence again and glanced around.
"I remember Master Zhengzheng started me off with horse stances and burning leaves. How about we..."
"What are you worried about?"
Kahn said with amusement:
"It's just the two of us here. Do you think your lousy Firebending, which hasn't even reached the beginner level, could hurt me?"
Kahn's words reminded Aang of the sight of him thrashing Azula and her two companions that night. When he thought about how even someone with Firebending as powerful as Azula's could only let Kahn handle her however he pleased, his unease subsided a little.
"You have a point. I'll give it a try, then."
Aang swallowed, carefully took the little flame, then asked, somewhat at a loss:
"What should I do next?"
Seeing Aang at a complete loss, Kahn sighed helplessly, then suddenly barked an order:
"Attention! Turn left! Gather your energy! Punch!"
The sudden, stern commands made Aang's body obey instinctively.
By the time he realized what was happening, the energy he had gathered had turned the little flame into a roaring blaze. As he punched, it became a frightening fireball that hurtled toward Kahn.
"No! ...Uh."
Aang immediately cried out, only for his cry to cut off the next second as though someone had seized him by the throat.
With a casual wave of Kahn's hand, the fireball that seemed so dangerous to Aang burst as easily as a bubble. The flames scattered through the air, and a moment later, everything was calm again.
"I told you, fire can't hurt me."
Looking at Kahn, who stood before him perfectly at ease as though nothing had happened, Aang was finally convinced.
"I finally learned Firebending!!!"
Aang shouted excitedly, holding a ball of fire
