"A bladed weapon made from some special material." Nick picked up a few leaves, wiped the oddly shaped curved blade clean, and examined it carefully in his hands.
It was about as long as his Bolo knife, but only three fingers wide, with an overall curve of roughly twenty degrees. Its surface had a frosted, matte finish, but the cutting edge was extremely sharp and gleamed coldly. Every five or six centimeters, there was a serrated notch that served both to draw blood and to cut. Just looking at its design sent a chill down his spine.
Could this SEAL really have killed a Predator before? But then what was going on with all those untriggered traps?
Thoughts churned through Nick's mind as he continued, "This is a rainforest. In just a few days, the M9 pistol in his right hand has already rusted, but this blade looks brand-new."
He handed the blade to Hanzo, the Neon person standing beside him with burning eyes. Hanzo hurriedly took off his suit jacket and tore off a section of sleeve. He wiped the blade over and over as though he had found a treasure, then wrapped the fabric around the handle and swung it a few times, his expression one of delighted surprise.
"Thank you!" Hanzo bowed deeply to Nick with great solemnity.
"Hey!" Now Stan, the man in the prison uniform, was unhappy. "You all have weapons, and all I've got is this fucking little toy."
He waved the little toothbrush in his hand. "Give me a gun. One that works."
Nick picked up the already rusty M9 from the corpse's hand, cleared its chamber with a twig, and tossed it to him. It was actually just a standard-issue US military Beretta 92F, much the same model as the ornamental piece
