The elevator continued moving. Inside the next cube was a cute little girl in a tutu, her back turned to them.
"Is she... just like us too?" Kurt stared nervously at the little girl's back and swallowed instinctively.
An idea struck Nick. He took out the music box he had secretly stashed away earlier, opened it, and gave its spring a couple of turns.
As the ivory ballerina inside the music box danced to the simple melody of "Swan Lake," the little girl with her back to them slowly turned around.
Everyone sucked in a breath, instantly lowering the temperature inside the cube by several degrees.
This was no cute little girl. She had no eyes or nose; a gaping, bloody maw occupied the entire little face where her features should have been.
That maw was also lined with ring upon ring of fine, sharp teeth, like an enlarged lamprey's mouth.
To be fair, if they ignored her face, the little girl looked rather adorable spinning in place to "Swan Lake," just like the little figurine dancing inside the music box in Nick's palm.
"What the hell is this place?" Kurt muttered, looking to the other side.
A tall man stood there, half a head taller than him, with rusty saw blades embedded in his head and barbed wire digging into his arms. Blood dripped from him constantly.
Nick recognized this one. He was a character similar to Pinhead from the famous horror series Hellraiser. Presumably, the original film had "upgraded" his appearance somewhat to avoid copyright issues.
The puzzle box originally used to contain this fellow had also become a spherical metal puzzle, which he was currently holding in his palm.
Clearly, this "Saw Blade Head," like Pinhead in Hellraiser, was a monster governed by specific mechanics. He could
