"Sister Mei, what should we do next?"
Hiyoumaru stood beside Hiyamaru. The two fox girls looked like a pair of twins, though they both seemed to reject each other.
"It's getting late. Let's find somewhere to rest!" Mei looked at Yōki, who could barely stay awake. Her eyes kept drooping shut, and she looked extremely sleepy.
"Oh, but... are there still any inns open this late?" Hiyamaru looked around. At an hour like this, every shop had closed, let alone during such a dangerous time.

Of course, Mei did not care what ordinary people thought.
"How strange..."
They had not walked far before Mei looked around with a trace of confusion on her face.
There did not seem to be any yokai nearby, which was very strange... After all, because of Seimei's birth, most yokai factions in Japan had gathered in Kyoto.
Logically, every street should have had quite a few yokai, but the yokai aura here was far weaker than elsewhere.
"There's a smell of blood... ahead."
Hiyamaru sniffed the air and pointed ahead with certainty.
"Let's go take a look... Yōki, are you all right?"
Hearing Hiyamaru's words, Mei could not help wanting to investigate. After all, they needed to figure out what had happened nearby.
But Yōki already looked very sleepy.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me." Yōki smiled sweetly and shook her head at Mei, telling her not to mind
