Sil froze. She hadn't known Durandal liked cats.
The Angry Durandal (3/7)
"Lord Durandal, may I come with you?"
Looking at Durandal before her, Sil felt it was necessary to build a good relationship with her.
After all, her job wasn't just cleaning. As Rita had said, she was primarily meant to take care of Lord Durandal. It wouldn't do for her to be so afraid of her now.
"You want to go too?"
Durandal stared at her blankly, looking at Sil's slightly reverent yet earnest expression.
"N-No... may I not?"
"It isn't that you can't. If you want to go, then come along."
It wasn't anything important, so Durandal had no reason to refuse.
Durandal led Sil toward the spot where the cats had gathered earlier.
However... before they reached their destination, perhaps because they had caught the scent of the cat food in Durandal's hand, several cats that had come from who knew where gathered around her, staring at what she held and meowing insistently.
They seemed to be begging for the food in Durandal's hand.
Durandal hesitated as she looked at the cats. After all, the cat food had been prepared for those ownerless strays.
But seeing the pleading looks in their eyes, Durandal couldn't bring herself to refuse.
"Fine! Fine! You can have a little, but not too much. You all have owners feeding you, after all." Unable to refuse the cats' pleas, Durandal took out the cat food she had prepared, setting down roughly a fifth of it before them.
The cats became incredibly excited at the sight of the food Durandal had taken out and immediately lowered their heads to eat.
Durandal couldn't help smiling as she reached out to stroke their fur.
"Lord Durandal is so cute..."
