In the narrow corridor, the two sides began a chase.
Mine, running at the very front, would stop from time to time and fire a shot at the pursuers behind her before continuing to run.
Every shot took out several, sometimes nearly ten, Imperial Fist Temple disciples. The results delighted Mine, and she kept repeating the tactic tirelessly.
However, the Imperial Fist Temple disciples behind them were no fools. Knowing they could not let this continue, the leader threw back his head and roared, "Everyone in the Imperial Fist Temple, get out here! Block the corridor!"
The minor leader was so enraged that he was nearly crazed. He was prepared to sacrifice some of the lower-ranking disciples and apprentices to deal with Leone and the others.
Sure enough, the method proved effective. Once everyone nearby came out of their rooms, the entire corridor was packed solid with people.
Leone and the others were forced to stop as well.
The Imperial Fist Temple disciples pursuing Leone and the others quickly caught up, though there were no longer over a hundred of them—at most, only a few dozen remained.
"Run! Why aren't you running anymore?"
The Imperial Fist Temple minor leader looked at Guan Xing, Leone, and the others, now trapped by the blockade, and shouted gleefully. The frustration from the chase had eased considerably.
"Hmph, even if we're not running, do you think we're afraid of you?" Mine said stubbornly, raising her Imperial Arm, Pumpkin, at the man who had spoken.
The leader froze when the gun was aimed at him. If its barrel locked onto him alone, he had no confidence he could evade Pumpkin's blast in such a narrow corridor.
"Tap, tap, tap..."
Just as both sides fell into a brief silence, the sound of rapid footsteps approached.
