"I'm starving!"
Hu Fangyuan wailed, clutching his growling stomach as he headed toward the station exit.
He had only one thought now: eat!
Eat with a vengeance!
Everything else could wait until he was full!
After leaving the station, Hu Fangyuan picked a restaurant that looked decent and walked inside.
"Boss, bring me every signature dish you've got!"
Hu Fangyuan waved his hand and spoke with the swagger of a man with money to burn.
He had a fortune in his hands now. He had no fear of running out of food!
Hu Heming's Storage Soul Tool contained five million Federation Coins alone, not to mention all sorts of valuable Soul Tools and medicinal pills.
The cost of this meal was no more than a hair off nine oxen to him!
Soon, steaming dishes were brought to the table one after another.
Hu Fangyuan wasted no time, picking up his chopsticks and sweeping through the food like a gale scattering clouds.
He ate fast and furiously, his chopsticks flying up and down as the food on the plates dwindled at a rate visible to the naked eye.
The other diners stared, dumbfounded.
They had never seen anyone who could eat so much!
How could a child who looked only eight or nine put away so much food?
What an appetite!
Hu Fangyuan did not care what anyone thought. All he knew was that he was hungry and needed to eat!
Only with a full stomach would he have the energy to think about anything else!
Hu Fangyuan spent a full two hours on that meal, piling the plates on the table half a person's height.
Finally, he burped and rubbed his bulging belly, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
"That hit the spot!"
After making offerings to the temple of his stomach, Hu Fangyuan began to consider his current circumstances.
He found a hotel, booked a deluxe king room, then lay on the bed and began sorting through his situation.
First came his cultivation.
He was currently a level twenty One-Ring Soul Master.
With his Innate Full Soul Power, he only needed time to condense his second Soul Ring and become a Level 2 Soul Grandmaster.
But what came after that?
What would he do then?
To refine gu, he needed materials.
The Heaven Refining Furnace was powerful, but even the cleverest cook could not make a meal without rice. Without materials, no matter how skilled he was at Gu Refining, he could not produce any Gu worms.
To continue cultivating, he would need to buy a second Soul Spirit after becoming a Soul Elder.
In this world, Soul Masters who wanted Soul Rings had to either hunt Soul Beasts or absorb Soul Spirits. Hunting Soul Beasts was too dangerous, and he could easily be discovered. Absorbing Soul Spirits was safe, but Soul Spirits were so expensive that ordinary Soul Masters simply could not afford them.
Although he currently had the fortune Hu Heming had left behind, he would eat through a mountain if he only spent without earning. One day, the money would run out.
In this world, anyone who wanted resources needed the backing of a major power.
Only by joining a major power could he obtain an unending supply of resources and cultivate and practice Gu Refining without worry.
A little genius like him, a nine-year-old who had just entered the ranks of Two-Ring Soul Grandmasters, would be fine in a small place like Lingbi City. Anyone who was not blind would know to invest in him.
But Eastsea City was the second-largest economic hub in the East Sea Region!
The Soul Masters here were sure to be of a high caliber!
There were bound to be plenty of promising Soul Master prodigies!
In a place like this, a Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster probably amounted to nothing.
What could he do to attract someone's investment?
Hu Fangyuan frowned, racking his brains.
It never occurred to him that, perhaps, economic development and the caliber of Soul Masters were not so closely linked in some places.
As he understood it, economically developed places were bound to have Soul Masters of a high caliber. After all, only money could nurture more Soul Masters and attract more geniuses.
What he did not know was that, despite Eastsea City's economic prosperity, the caliber of its Soul Masters was not actually top-tier.
It could even... be called a Soul Master Desert!
But none of this occurred to Hu Fangyuan now.
He thought for a long time without coming up with any good ideas.
Finally, he shook his head and put these worries aside for the moment.
"Since things have come to this, I'll go enroll first!"
Hu Fangyuan muttered to himself.
I have Innate Full Soul Power, after all. Even if I've missed the start of term, there's no reason the academy would refuse to admit me.
As long as I get into Eastsea Academy, I'll have resources supplied by the academy and be able to cultivate without worry.
As for what comes after that, I'll deal with it later!
The boat will straighten itself when it reaches the bridge!
After a sleepless night, Hu Fangyuan condensed his second Soul Ring and successfully became a level twenty-one Soul Grandmaster.
The next day, he headed toward Eastsea Academy, asking for directions along the way.
Eastsea City was vast, its streets broad and its crowds an endless weave. Shops lined both sides of the streets, their dazzling arrays of goods enough to make one's eyes swim.
Soul Tool shops, medicinal pill shops, Soul Beast material shops...
All kinds of shops catering to Soul Masters could be found everywhere.
As he walked, Hu Fangyuan looked around curiously.
He had grown up in a remote little place like Lingbi City. When had he ever seen such prosperity?
For a while, he became rather absorbed in the sights.
Still, he had not forgotten what he had come to do.
After asking several people, he finally located Eastsea Academy.
Half an hour later, Hu Fangyuan arrived at Eastsea Academy's main gates.
Eastsea Academy's gates were magnificent.
The two enormous iron gates stood roughly thirty-three meters tall, carved with exquisite dragons and phoenixes. A huge plaque hung above them, bearing the words "Eastsea Academy" in bold characters, the strokes winding like dragons and snakes with imposing grandeur.
A campus guard stood on either side of the gates, both powerfully built and steady in bearing. One glance was enough to tell that they were Soul Masters with considerable cultivation.
Standing before the gates, Hu Fangyuan looked up at the enormous plaque, his heart filled with countless reflections.
Starting today, he would begin a brand-new life here!
Hu Fangyuan walked forward. Eastsea Academy's main gates were closed, and a girl was talking to a campus guard at the side entrance.
The girl looked about Hu Fangyuan's age, roughly eight or nine. Her long black hair fell over her shoulders like black silk. Her eyes were black as well, clear and bright, like the deepest night sky.
Her features were delicate, not breathtakingly beautiful, but possessed of their own charm. Her build was somewhat above average among children her age, her figure well-proportioned. Dressed in white, she looked neat and crisp. Her manner was cool and aloof, carrying an innate sense of distance, as though she did not belong with anything around her.
"Uncle! I'm here to enroll."
Hu Fangyuan immediately stepped forward and explained why he had come.
The campus guard looked to be in his thirties. He was powerfully built, and there was a hint of helplessness on his face.
He looked at the girl, then at Hu Fangyuan, who had joined them, and said rather helplessly, "Eastsea Academy has already finished admissions. You should both come back next year."
As it turned out, the girl had come to enroll too. Now that another boy had appeared, the guard naturally felt all the more helpless.
Hu Fangyuan blinked, a faint smile appearing on his face.
He had known he would run into this situation.
But he had come prepared.
"What if I told you I have Innate Full Soul Power? Could you make an exception?"
Hu Fangyuan spoke with a cheerful smile, a hint of confidence in his voice.
At those words, the guard's eyes lit up.
He was a Soul Master himself, so naturally, he knew that Eastsea Academy needed students with Innate Full Soul Power.
As for whether it was true... he was only a campus guard. Whether there were dates on the tree or not, he might as well give it a couple of knocks with a pole.
If it worked out, all the better. If not... how much trouble could a child possibly stir up in the academy?
The guard's attitude instantly took a complete about-face.
The helplessness vanished from his face, replaced by a warm smile.
"Innate Full Soul Power? Come in, then. Go to the academic affairs office in the teaching building and ask for Director Long. Once your Innate Soul Power has been tested, if it's true, you can enroll."
The guard spoke warmly, stepping aside as he did so.
Hu Fangyuan nodded, a knowing smile appearing on his face.
Sure enough, even in a big city like Eastsea City, Innate Full Soul Power was still in demand.
This was how a genius was treated!
He strode into the academy.
Watching Hu Fangyuan successfully gain entry, a flicker of surprise crossed the white-clad girl's eyes.
She had not expected this ordinary-looking boy to have Innate Full Soul Power!
But she quickly regained her composure.
She looked at the guard and said with a grin, "Uncle, I have Innate Full Soul Power too!"
The guard froze again at her words.
He looked at the girl, then at Hu Fangyuan, who had already walked some distance away. His mouth hung wide open, and he could not speak for a long while.
What kind of day was this?
Why were children with Innate Full Soul Power showing up one after another?
This was far too outrageous!
But shocked though he was, the guard quickly recovered and said just as warmly, "Since you have Innate Full Soul Power too, go on in as well! Ask Director Long to test you. If you pass, you can enroll!"
The girl nodded, a faint smile appearing on her face, then walked into the academy with light steps.
She soon caught up with Hu Fangyuan ahead.
The two walked side by side, neither saying a word.
