Background

Huo Wu grew up as a cherished prodigy of Blazing Fire Academy. Her father, Huo Chen, headed the academy, while her older brother, Huo Wushuang, captained its team before Chen Jin’s arrival. Huo Wushuang describes her as having been pampered by their father and the people around her 11 12 13.

Before meeting Chen Jin, she and her teammates spent three days hunting a Scale-Armored Lion for her fourth Soul Ring. Believing Chen Jin had stolen their prey, she attacked without hearing his explanation. After he subdued her and allowed her to claim the ring, she acknowledged her mistake and apologized 5 6.

Appearance

Huo Wu has long, fiery-red hair, phoenix-shaped eyes, fair skin, and a graceful figure with long, straight legs 5 10.

Personality

Huo Wu is proud, competitive, and quick-tempered. Her first response to the apparent theft of her Soul Beast is immediate confrontation, and she angrily challenges her brother when he dismisses her eyewitness account of Chen Jin’s strength. Nevertheless, she readily apologizes once she recognizes that she has misjudged someone 5 6 13.

Her attraction to Chen Jin begins with admiration for his refusal to abandon his principles to control his evil fire. Around him, her usual confidence often gives way to embarrassment, teasing, and poorly concealed concern. She checks him for injuries after battles and becomes distressed when he disappears without leaving a message 7 12 28 49.

Her loyalty is active rather than merely affectionate. She follows Chen Jin toward danger, offers the academy’s protection against his enemies, and stands beside him when Tang Hao threatens him. She also remains determined to fight after the Ice Empress injures her, relenting only when Chen Jin explains that he is worried about her safety 8 59 70 86.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Recruiting Chen Jin

After obtaining her fourth Soul Ring, Huo Wu guides Chen Jin through Star Dou Great Forest. She witnesses him defeat a six-thousand-year Blazing Fire Azure Sparrow and warns him against absorbing its ring as his third. His successful absorption and subsequent display of Ultimate Fire persuade her to recruit him to Blazing Fire Academy 6 7 9 10 11.

She brings him to the academy and defends his achievements against the students’ disbelief and Huo Wushuang’s accusations. Chen Jin’s victory over her brother vindicates her account, and Huo Chen appoints him captain 12 13 15.

Continental Elite Tournament

Huo Wu supports Chen Jin’s leadership, persuading Huo Wushuang to stand back when Chen Jin chooses to fight Heaven Dou Royal Academy alone. During the final against Spirit Hall Academy, she takes a direct combat role by holding off Yan while Chen Jin confronts the opposing team’s strongest fighters 23 68.

Blazing Fire Academy wins the championship. Huo Wu receives the Wind Chasing Left Leg Bone and promises to leave with Chen Jin. When Tang Hao subsequently threatens him, she releases all four Soul Rings and stands in his defense 68 70.

Slaughter City and Hell Road

Huo Wu adapts to Slaughter City by shifting her training toward short blades and close combat. With Chen Jin correcting her weaknesses and Qian Renxue acting as her sparring partner, she steadily accumulates victories 75.

After a year, all three secure their hundredth consecutive wins on the same day. They reject the King of Slaughter’s offer to remain as Slaughter Envoys and enter Hell Road. Together, they defeat its monsters, survive the collapsing final passage, and emerge as dark red domain energy gathers around them 76 77.

Imperial Palace and Northern Expedition

Following Qian Renxue’s coronation as Xue Qinghe, Huo Wu joins her and Chen Jin in the palace and helps review memorials. Three years later, now a rank eighty-three Soul Douluo, she insists on accompanying Chen Jin’s expedition to sea 84.

During the subsequent Far North encounters, the Ice Empress injures her with cold poison, which Chen Jin removes. On the return voyage, Huo Wu fuses the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s Left Leg Soul Bone. The group also discusses finding a powerful fire-attribute Soul Beast for her planned Soul Spirit Contract; the supplied chapters do not show that contract being completed 86 89.

Chen Jin’s Seclusion and Return

Huo Wu visits the entrance to Chen Jin’s secluded cultivation chamber every day for three months. After he emerges, she welcomes him with an embrace and later accompanies him, Qian Renxue, and Ning Rongrong to Spirit City in response to Bibi Dong’s summons 92 93.
