An Author's Note on Going Premium

Since this book was first published on QQ Reading, it will be put behind a paywall relatively early.

I often see people complaining that some Douluo Continent fan fictions are put behind a paywall after only fifty or sixty thousand words, so I'll explain what's really going on.

Qidian Reading and QQ Reading use two different reading models. Qidian uses a subscription model, so books first published there generally aren't put behind a paywall until they reach around 150,000 words. You subscribe to whichever book you want to read!

QQ Reading, on the other hand, uses a membership-based free-reading model, so books are put behind a paywall relatively early. Once you become a member, you can read the entire book for free. Other books on QQ Reading are also free for members, so one membership lets you read many books.

Readers from Qidian Reading who feel that this book is being put behind a paywall too early can come over to QQ Reading and get a membership. The entire book will be free to read, and you'll also be able to read other books.

All right, now that I've explained that, let's talk about the book going premium.

After it goes premium, this book will update with 4,000 to 6,000 words each day. Since QQ Reading uses a monthly membership model, the site prefers 4,000 words split into two chapters each day. However, I'll also add extra chapters as appropriate based on subscriptions on Qidian Reading.

Rewards can also earn extra chapters. One extra chapter for every 20,000 coins.

As for the book itself, its current statistics look pretty good. It should be enough to keep me fed, at least. The daily update time is exactly midnight. I don't want to update at that hour either, but the editor said that QQ Reading's follow-up-reading algorithm is different from Qidian Reading's. On a new day, the earlier the update, the better, so I moved the update time to midnight.

I'm not a newcomer either. I'm an established author who previously achieved good results on Qidian Reading. The overall quality shouldn't be a major issue, and I won't abandon the story midway, so everyone can read with confidence.
