Background / History

Gwen lives in Queens on Earth-65 with her father, Police Captain George Stacy, and attends high school. As Ghost-Spider, she considers protecting New York part of her responsibility. Before meeting Lynn, she confiscated a dimensional-travel wristwatch from an interdimensional smuggler 30 32.

The simulation system initially identifies her tragic turning point as the Osborn Corporation Clock Tower battle: Norman Osborn’s Green Goblin throws her from a great height, and her boyfriend, Peter Parker, fails to save her. Lynn later enters this scenario as a S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent and changes its outcome by sacrificing himself instead 1 28 30.

Appearance

  • Hair and eyes: Blond hair and blue eyes 41 44.
  • Build: Slender waist, with considerable strength concealed beneath her suit 29 41.
  • Costume: A masked Ghost-Spider suit described as black-and-white in Lynn’s recollection and pure white with bright pink in direct appearances 28 31 34.
  • After the Clock Tower: Her suit is bloodstained, while her face becomes pale and gaunt and her eyes heavily bloodshot. Later encounters leave the costume scorched and torn 31 33 41 47.

Personality

Before Lynn’s simulated death, Gwen conceals her stress behind a sunny, playful manner. At the Clock Tower, she is frightened but responsive under pressure, resetting her damaged web-shooter while Lynn distracts Green Goblin. She desperately rejects the idea of surviving at the cost of her rescuer’s life 29 30 31.

Watching Lynn fall transforms her attachment into obsessive possessiveness. She kills Green Goblin, searches across dimensions, and treats Lynn’s sacrifice as proof of an exclusive bond. Her fear of losing him outweighs concern for her own survival, including the wristwatch’s warning that a forced dimensional crossing offers less than a ten percent survival chance 31 32 41.

Gwen interprets Lynn’s closeness to Wanda as evidence that he is being controlled or imprisoned. Even his apparent injuries reinforce her conviction that she must rescue him from Wanda. This belief persists despite Lynn’s warnings and Wanda’s overwhelming magical advantage 35 37 40.

Her protectiveness is also a vulnerability Lynn deliberately exploits. Reassurance that he needs her restores her confidence, while signs of his suffering can immediately interrupt her attacks. Her willingness to break her own wrist rather than strike him demonstrates that his safety takes precedence over both her jealousy and her physical well-being 44 45 48.

Abilities & Skills

Spider-Sense

Gwen possesses a danger sense that provides advance warning of attacks and detects subtle disturbances 35 44 47.

  • Tracks the trajectories of Wanda’s attacks approximately a hundredth of a second ahead, allowing narrow evasions through debris and scarlet blades 47.
  • Helps her skirt the perimeter of Wanda’s magical defenses 35.
  • Detects an abnormal bioelectric fluctuation near the unconscious Natasha Romanoff, even without registering lethal danger 44.
  • Does not guarantee safety: Wanda’s attacks can overwhelm the available space for evasion, and Lynn’s warning precedes Gwen’s during the tracking-round incident 47.

Superhuman Strength and Flexibility

Gwen combines powerful physical attacks with contortions beyond ordinary human biomechanics 41 46 47.

  • Lifts Natasha off the ground by the throat with one hand and crushes a communicator in her grip 44 45.
  • Slips through a gap in Wanda’s gravitational field by twisting at an otherwise impossible angle 46.
  • Uses webbing and muscular force to pull down a reinforced-concrete beam weighing several tons 47.
  • Bends a length of rebar into a U-shape while aborting an attack, but the recoil breaks her right wrist 48.
  • Remains vulnerable to physical strain: extreme evasions injure her shoulder and place dangerous stress on her ribs 47.

Web-Shooter Combat

Gwen uses wrist-mounted launchers for movement, restraint, rescue, and lethal attacks 29 31 42.

  • Anchors a web to a steel beam to arrest her and Lynn’s fall; undamaged strands can normally support several tons 29.
  • Entangles Green Goblin’s glider engine, then strangles him with repeated loops of webbing 31.
  • Fires a web more than ten meters across using her shooters’ overload function 42.
  • Employs high-pressure and electrically charged webbing in close combat 46 47.
  • Mechanical limits: Warped components can jam, web fluid can run out, and gunfire can damage load-bearing strands 29.
  • Magical limits: Wanda’s Chaos Magic repeatedly burns, vaporizes, or tears apart her webs 33 34 42 46.

Close-Quarters Combat and Feints

Gwen uses acrobatics, misdirection, and improvised weapons to create openings against stronger opponents 42 47.

  • Throws web-linked rubble as a distraction before approaching from Wanda’s blind spot 42.
  • Uses a large web as a second feint before attacking Wanda’s throat with barbs extending from her fingertips 42.
  • Conceals a rebar thrust behind the dust produced when Wanda destroys a falling beam 47.
  • Successfully reaches Wanda’s defenses but cannot penetrate her chaos shield; the recoil injures Gwen instead 42.

Surveillance and Perimeter Defense

Gwen tracks Lynn from concealed positions and later takes responsibility for inspecting Eden Manor’s physical defenses 38 39 44.

  • Watches the estate from the forest using a thermal imager 38.
  • Maintains surveillance from roughly two kilometers away before approaching the second-floor balcony by web 39.
  • Searches surveillance blind spots and potential sniper positions after Lynn assigns her the manor’s physical protection 44.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Ghost-Spider suit — Masked white-and-pink costume; repeatedly damaged by explosions, heat, and debris 28 33 47.
  • Web-shooters — Wrist-mounted launchers with rapid-fire and overload functions, capable of firing specialized high-strength webbing 29 42 45.
  • Metal Wristwatch — Confiscated dimensional-travel device. Gwen enters Lynn’s Soul Signature to locate him and forces a crossing despite an overload warning; its discharge burns her wrist 32.
  • Thermal imager — Used to observe Lynn and Wanda at Eden 38.
  • High-voltage web spike — Close-range weapon carried during her battle with Wanda 46.
  • Improvised rebar weapon — Taken from Eden Manor’s ruins and used in an attempted strike at Wanda’s heart 47.
  • S.H.I.E.L.D. Cell Repair Serum — Prepared as an injection for Lynn, but his damaged Energy Circuit rejects it alongside Wanda’s attempted magical treatment 48.

Relationships

  • Lynn — Rescuer and object of her obsessive attachment. His simulated sacrifice drives her to cross dimensions to find him. She regards the scars and bite mark on his body as evidence of their shared bond, while he knowingly manipulates her fear of losing him 29 30 35 40 41 44.
  • Wanda Maximoff — Romantic rival and recurrent opponent. Gwen believes Wanda is imprisoning Lynn and refuses to yield despite being badly outmatched by Chaos Magic. They eventually agree not to hurt each other at Lynn’s insistence 35 36 42 47 49.
  • George Stacy — Father and police captain. He checks on Gwen when her recovered memories disturb her at home; she conceals what has happened before leaving Earth-65 32.
  • Peter Parker / Spider-Man — Identified as her boyfriend in the system’s original tragic-turning-point description, where he fails to save her from the Clock Tower fall 1.
  • Norman Osborn / Green Goblin — Clock Tower adversary. After Lynn falls, Gwen destroys his glider’s engine and strangles him against a gear 1 28 31.
  • Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow — Suspected assassin and additional rival. Gwen nearly kills her after discovering her unconscious near Eden Manor with a sniper rifle and hearing her murmur Lynn’s name 44 45.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Clock Tower Simulation

Lynn selects Gwen as his second simulation target to obtain danger-detection and physical-evasion abilities. He enters the New York Clock Tower battle as a S.H.I.E.L.D. field agent, finding her cornered by Green Goblin with jammed web-shooters 28.

He catches her during the fall and buys time for her to reset a shooter. Her web stops their descent, but a bullet-damaged section begins breaking under their combined weight, and her remaining fluid runs out. Lynn kisses her forehead and cuts away his section of web, leaving her alive while he falls 29 30.

The system records Gwen’s emotional fluctuation exceeding 200%. Its settlement footage shows her killing Green Goblin and clinging to Lynn’s corpse as her obsessive guardian attachment takes hold. Completing the simulation grants Lynn, rather than Gwen, Top-tier Spider-Sense and the Superhuman Flexibility Physique 30 31.

Crossing to Lynn’s Universe

On Earth-65, memories of the Clock Tower abruptly intrude into Gwen’s ordinary morning. She retrieves her confiscated wristwatch and forces a dimensional crossing using Lynn’s Soul Signature 32.

Finding him holding Wanda, she reacts with jealousy, destroys the safe house’s surveillance camera, and hides nearby. When Hydra’s Helicarrier targets the building, she abandons concealment and rushes to rescue him. Both the cannon’s heat and Wanda’s scarlet barrier defeat her attempts to reach him with webbing 31 32 33.

Gwen later reaches Lynn and exposes the bite mark she remembers leaving on his collarbone. The encounter provokes Wanda into lifting her by the neck and preparing a lethal attack. Lynn interrupts by making himself cough blood, then leaves Brooklyn with Wanda 35 36 37.

Pursuit at Eden Manor

Gwen follows the pair to Eden and watches from the surrounding forest. When Lynn confronts her on the terrace, she accuses him of abandoning her and says she killed three dimensional trespassers while searching for him. His explanation that he let go to save her briefly turns her anger into tearful dependence 38 39 40 41.

Wanda’s arrival triggers another battle. Gwen counters with webbing, feints, and close-range attacks, but cannot breach Wanda’s defenses. Lynn interrupts by reversing his magical circulation and coughing blood; the resulting energy resonance opens a dimensional rift. He falsely attributes it to a Hydra anchor, persuading both women to help close it 42 43.

Protector Assignment and Renewed Fighting

Lynn separates the women’s responsibilities, assigning Wanda dimensional concealment and Gwen physical perimeter defense. Gwen accepts after he tells her that her Spider-Sense is the intuition he trusts. During her patrol, she discovers Natasha and nearly executes her as both a suspected threat and romantic rival 44 45.

Renewed fighting with Wanda destroys much of Eden Manor. Gwen continues attacking despite injuries and exhaustion, eventually attempting a rebar strike. When Lynn steps between them, she forcibly redirects the weapon and breaks her wrist rather than hit him 46 47 48.

After their attempts to treat Lynn fail, he demands that they stop fighting and promise not to hurt each other while he remains alive. Gwen reluctantly agrees and guards him as Wanda carries him toward safety 48 49.
