At the same time, in a conference room on the other side of Avengers Tower, three holographic screens were lit up at once.

Tony stood in the middle with a cup of coffee in his hand, impatience written all over his face.

Steve sat to one side, his hands folded, his expression calm.

Nick Fury appeared on the largest screen, his face darker than its frame.

"Stark, this isn't a pet adoption issue."

Tony took a sip of coffee.

"It certainly isn't. Pet adoption procedures are much gentler than what you people at S.H.I.E.L.D. do. So are child adoption procedures."

Fury stared at him.

"He has an alien symbiote on him."

"Banner monitors him three times a day. I have a full set of testing equipment here."

Tony said.

"The worst crime that supposedly wicked alien symbiote of yours has committed so far is stealing half a box of chocolate cereal, and even that's still in dispute. I suspect that little motormouth was controlling his alien symbiote to steal my chocolate cereal."

"Okay, the alien life-form is gentle, but that little motormouth of yours comes from another universe."

"Then he needs a place that won't lock him in a glass room all the more."

Fury's voice sank. "You know what kind of risk a visitor from an unknown universe poses."

Tony put down his coffee.

"And I know how you people usually handle risks. He's stayed here with me this whole week, behaving himself. He hasn't even gone out to keep order in New York. I'd say the risk management has been very thorough."

The conference room fell silent for a moment after that.

Steve raised his eyes and looked at Fury.

"He has to stay at Avengers Tower."

Fury turned his gaze toward him.

"Captain, you think so too?"
