She was still very young, had never been to school, and could not read.
She simply sat on the sofa nearby and played with Tuantuan for a while.
Only when she grew sleepy did she quietly walk over to her eldest uncle.
"Eldest Uncle."
Afraid of disturbing him, the little girl hesitated several times before speaking.
Fu Yunting turned to look at her.
"Sleepy?"
Qin Yan nodded obediently.
"All right, off to bed."
He set aside his work for the moment and took the little one downstairs by the hand.
"I'm going to the office tomorrow. Do you want to come with me or stay home?"
Qin Yan answered without hesitation, "With you, Eldest Uncle."
She was like a clingy little kitten. Because of her past experiences, she was especially dependent on relatives who loved her and desperately craved affection.
So she wanted to cling to her family every moment.
Before, it had been her grandfather. Now that he was away, her eldest uncle was the only family member at home.
Even though they had only spent a day together, Qin Yan had already shown her dependence on Fu Yunting.
"All right. I'll come wake you up first thing tomorrow."
Qin Yan nodded, her clear black-and-white eyes brightening slightly.
"Okay."
Qin Yan returned to her room, then turned and hugged Fu Yunting.
Her tiny body was soft and warm.
"Good night, Eldest Uncle."
Then she added, "Remember to wake me."
Amused, Fu Yunting stroked her soft hair.
"All right, even if I forget everyone else, I won't forget you."
Only after getting his reply did Qin Yan leave, satisfied.
Fu Yunting was a little reluctant to let her go.
Yawning, Qin Yan went to check on the fish first.
The Butterfly Koi in the tank was remarkably resilient and had fully recovered.
"Time for bed. Good night," she murmured.
Finally, she climbed into bed, tucked herself in, and placed Tuantuan beside her pillow, even making a little nest for it out of clothes.
"Night-night to you too, Tuantuan."
Tuantuan bounced twice in its little nest, making soft gurgling sounds.
Only then did Qin Yan settle down to sleep.
What she did not know was that after she fell asleep, tiny points of light radiated from inside her.
It was the Crystal Core merging with her body.
Some of the gentle, pale green light drifted into the fish tank, while some settled into the potted plants on the balcony.
She, too, slept deeply amid the light brimming with life.
So much so that she felt considerably more refreshed when she woke the next day.
But she had not woken on her own that morning. It was still rather early, and the butler had come to wake her.
Qin Yan was very good-tempered and was not grumpy in the slightest about being woken up.
Fu Yunting came in too. He was already dressed in a dark gray suit with white pinstripes, his hair slicked back with gel, and he exuded a mature charm.
Qin Yan rubbed her eyes and yawned, her pretty eyes immediately filling with sparkling tears.
"Morning, Eldest Uncle."
Even though she was still a little dazed, she remembered to say good morning.
Her voice was soft and slightly slurred, so sweet that she sounded as though she were wheedling.
After speaking, she stared blankly at one spot while the butler prepared her clothes.
"Morning."
"Didn't sleep enough? How about I have someone bring you over this afternoon instead?"
Qin Yan shook her head, the messy tuft sticking up on top bobbing along.
She patted her little cheeks.
"I'll go wash my face."
With that, she climbed out of bed and picked Tuantuan up first.
There was another bar of soap.
She picked it up and held it to her nose. "It smells like milk."
"Thank you for the present, Tuantuan." After speaking, she kissed Tuantuan.
Tuantuan wobbled happily, its big eyes curving slightly as though it were smiling.
The soap was small and milky white, like a piece of mutton-fat jade.
It gave off a lovely milky fragrance, neither cloying nor at all rank.
Fu Yunting took it and sniffed it. "It really does. This Slime is a little unusual."
But it was his niece's little pet, so as long as it did not harm her, that was fine.
Fu Yunting also noticed that the grape scent on Qin Yan had not faded.
He held Qin Yan and sniffed her. "Little Yanyan, did you use the soap last night?"
Qin Yan nodded. "For my face. And my bath."
A young maid had bathed her.
Qin Yan's little arms could not reach her back, so she could not wash herself properly.
She liked the grape-scented soap, so she had not used shower gel.
"But the scent shouldn't still be here now."
Even the room smelled faintly of grapes.
Did this soap's fragrance really last that long?
But little Yanyan really did smell delicious.
Watching the little one earnestly brush her teeth and wash her face by herself, Fu Yunting found it amusing and casually took some photos and videos.
Ah... how had I never realized I liked taking pictures so much?
Finally, Qin Yan filled a container with water and worked up a little lather with the grape-scented soap, then put Tuantuan in and washed it too.
Tuantuan was like a little animal. After being washed, it jumped out and shook the water off its body.
Finally, Qin Yan dried it with a towel.
Once again, it was a pretty little jelly Slime.
The butler came over with several outfits and asked in a deliberately softened voice.
"Sweetie, which one would you like to wear?"
The weather was not warm yet, so all the clothes the butler had brought were furry, one-piece animal outfits.
There were little dresses too, but those were a bit troublesome to put on, since she would also need leggings underneath.
Qin Yan was fine with wearing any of them.
Fu Yunting pointed to a little Red Panda outfit. "This one."
And so, a tiny, cuddly, round little Red Panda made her debut.
Once she was dressed, her hair was given a quick brushing, and a clip held back the wisps covering her forehead. The little Red Panda was so adorable that it made one want to scoop her up and shower her with kisses.
Fu Yunting said nothing and simply took several photos.
Then he sent them to the group chat.
On the way to the office, the ride inside the luxury car was exceptionally smooth, even while it was moving.
Fu Yunting was handling some company matters on his laptop in the car.
Qin Yan sat beside her uncle, playing with Tuantuan without making a fuss, giving him no trouble at all.
But she soon grew sleepy.
She had gotten up early today.
The tiny, soft little bundle yawned, her eyelids drooping as her head bobbed.
Then, at some point, her little head tilted sideways, and her furry self leaned against her eldest uncle's arm.
Fu Yunting had actually been keeping an eye on her all along. Seeing this, he adjusted her position so she leaned into his arms.
The grape scent on the little one was still strong.
A little grape-scented cupcake.
When they reached the office, he put away his tablet and handed it to the driver, then gently picked up the little cupcake, who was still asleep.
She was such a tiny thing in his arms that he could hold her entirely with just one arm.
Her little head rested limply on her uncle's broad shoulder, her breathing as soft and sweet as she was.
Once he had her securely in his arms, Fu Yunting took out his phone with his other hand and discovered quite a few messages in the group chat.
Not only had the old man heaped praise on those photos and posted them to his Moments, but the fifth brother had actually surfaced too?
The fifth son of the Fu family, Fu Nanshan, was the one who had shaved his head and become a monk.
He was not just a monk, but also the Buddha's Son of the Holy Mountain Hanshan Temple.
Now this fifth brother, who practically never contacted the family, had actually sent a message in the group.
How could Fu Yunting not be surprised?
Fu Nanshan: I'll come home on the fifteenth of this month.
Old Master Fu had already tagged this son of his many times.
Fu Rong: Has the sun risen in the west? Number Five, someone hasn't taken your phone, have they?
Fu Nanshan: No.
Fu Rong: Whatever you are, get out of my son right now!
Fu Nanshan: ...
Before you continue
