Alexander Pierce pushed open the door to Nick Fury's office and walked in with a smile on his face.
"Oh, you're here."
Nick Fury set down the documents in his hand, took a bottle of red wine and two glasses from the wine cabinet beside him, and poured Alexander Pierce a glass.
"Try it. I just got this new wine from France."
"Is this what S.H.I.E.L.D.'s funding is being used for?" Pierce shot Fury a mock glare, then pulled out a chair and sat across from him. He took a sip from his glass. "Not bad. Give me two bottles to take with me later."
Setting down his glass, Pierce casually pointed at the documents on the desk and asked, "Is S.H.I.E.L.D. short-handed lately? The director has to handle paperwork personally?"
"Ha! This?" Nick Fury shook his head with a laugh and tossed the documents to Pierce. "It's an investigation report I just got from the FBI. I thought it was interesting, so I took a look to pass the time."
"I can read it?"
Pierce caught the documents but did not open them right away.
"Of course. It's not important intelligence."
Nick Fury shrugged and gestured for Pierce to help himself.
"Kraft Lee?" Pierce tapped his forehead with a finger as he thought. "The one with the Mechanical Combat Pet?"
"Hmph. So the Security Council people had their eyes on him too."
From what Pierce focused on remembering, Nick Fury could infer why he knew about Kraft.
Pierce did not deny it. "You know, Nick, as long as something can reduce military spending, those people can't possibly ignore it."
As he spoke, he continued flipping through the documents in his hands.
"Let's see what this kid came up with this time. Enough to get the FBI watching him?"
Nick
