"What, then, was the truth?"
After Peter Parker left, Kraft crossed one leg over the other and leaned back against the sofa, staring fixedly at Martin Lee.
"I'm not an idiot like Peter. That nonsense about protecting your fellow countrymen won't fool me."
Kraft believed that Martin wanted to protect his compatriots, even Asians in general, but that definitely wasn't the main reason. After all, the true leader of the Demon Gang wasn't Martin Lee, but Mr. Negative. According to what Martin had said before, whenever he became Mr. Negative, his entire temperament turned cold and brutal. There was no way he would have any desire to protect others.
"Do you remember when we talked about going back home?"
Martin fell silent for a moment before suddenly asking.
"Which time?"
Kraft had always wanted to go back, and they had discussed the subject more than once or twice.
"The last time, after we saw the news about the Hulk," Martin prompted. "We talked about special humans."
"Oh, right, that did happen." With the reminder, Kraft nodded. "So this has something to do with what we discussed then?"
"That's right. I had actually tried to go back before as an investor, but someone stopped me."
A look of reminiscence appeared on Martin Lee's face.
"Back home, there was an official organization specifically responsible for managing special people. Since my abilities were uncontrollable, they gave me two choices. One was to return and submit to their supervision, including having a special tracker injected into my body. The other was to remain in America. I normally wouldn't have to do much—just occasionally pass along information, receive people sent over from there, and so on. Oh, and collect cultural relics that had ended up overseas."
