Chapter 18: Comeback
By the time Su Can returned to the classroom, the lesson had already been underway for five minutes. The teacher was handing out quiz papers. Seeing Su Can knock and come in, the teacher nodded and let him enter.
The teacher seemed to have heard about this transfer student in the grade office. Apparently, when he first transferred in, Class Three's homeroom teacher, Wang Guiwen, had wanted to put him off for a while, but he had simply gone into the classroom and sat down. Everyone knew Wang Guiwen loved putting on airs. He tended to favor girls over boys in his class, believing that girls were much better behaved and easier to manage. The students dragging the class down were all boys, which only made him look less favorably on boys in general. Of course, he could hardly show any gender bias toward the top students in his class.
What was more, the grade office had been buzzing today about the student shown on the school television station who had dared criticize school policy. Some teachers had been comparing notes to establish which class he belonged to. The homeroom teachers, who looked so composed in front of their students but were quite the gossips in the office, had all declared that they had never seen such a student in their classes. Only Wang Guiwen had said nothing. He had picked up his teacup, given two dry coughs, and walked out, giving everyone a fair idea of the answer.
It went without saying that this new transfer student had left Wang Guiwen feeling somewhat displeased.
The subject teacher noticed that when the new transfer student entered, a low murmur rose amid the rustling of test papers. The teacher cleared their throat twice to maintain order. The students
