Chapter 74: Madness
Su Can felt that something was off at school that day. During Monday's flag-raising ceremony, he kept seeing familiar faces smiling at him for no apparent reason, while people he did not know looked at him and said things.
He had not taken it to heart at first, but during the exercise break after second period, he had the same feeling, only much more intensely than during the flag-raising ceremony. It all felt rather like the time people had tracked down his identity after he saved Li Ying from jumping off a building.
After all, Su Can had become a familiar face from his very first day after transferring to No. 27 Middle School. By now, people who knew of him were scattered throughout the school. So the expressions they gave him were not looks of dawning recognition upon first learning who he was, but knowing smiles, or looks of disbelief and uncertainty.
The damn problem was that those looks had stirred a powerful curiosity in Su Can himself.
As far as he knew, the students at No. 27 Middle School were fairly immune to this sort of thing. They all had strong senses of self and generally did not lose their composure like this.
There had only been three exceptions. The first was when his attack on school policy in response to Sun Man had triggered a fierce counterattack from her would-be protectors and the local protectionist forces. The second was an article that expressed things beyond the understanding of boys and girls their age, earning him a following. The third was his rescue of the girl who jumped off the building. Although the school had kept it low-key, it had undoubtedly made the greatest impact.
