Chapter 33: Get in the back
Women really did say one thing and mean another, especially women like Lin Luoran.
In her texts to Su Can, she had painted a picture of herself spending these three days isolated and bored, with no one to show her around campus, no one to check on her, and no friends-in short, someone who sounded utterly abandoned by him.
But when Su Can arrived at the School of Foreign Languages, a crowd of men and women had already gathered outside the teaching building, apparently just emerging from an event. They held an assortment of cheap props, including top hats, little umbrellas, and glittery stars, but the smiles on their faces were anything but cheap.
Among them were a few long-haired beauties with the distinctive poise often seen at the School of Foreign Languages, as well as a few international students. Lin Luoran stood right in their midst.
With a black-eared Disney Mickey hair clip on her head and a red plaid dress that gave her a distinctly English look, she stood there chatting away with the international students and the students from the School of Foreign Languages. By the look of it, even at Nanjing University, Lin Luoran had no shortage of friends, much less people eager to introduce her to their circles.
Under the circumstances, Su Can felt rather superfluous. Standing off to one side, he felt awkward staying, though leaving clearly would not do either.
Compared with their group, Su Can looked conspicuous waiting there alone. Still, he soon adjusted. At worst, he could simply keep quiet.
The busy Lin Luoran seemed to spot Su Can. She finally finished talking to the people beside her and skipped over. "Oh, you're here."
