Chapter 61: Stepping into the world
The car show had held him up for more than two hours. After the testing, registration, and taxes were all taken care of, the Hong Kong vice president in charge of the booth had planned to personally treat Su Can, a major customer, to lunch. But Su Can declined and simply ate a standard boxed lunch at the show. When he filled out his personal information for the Bentley, his status as a university student astonished some of the senior staff at the Furibao booth. It was unexpected, but on closer consideration, it seemed to make sense.
Still, only a handful of people on the seller's side knew. They would keep all this information strictly confidential, using it only for after-sales service and related purposes.
It was already around two in the afternoon when Su Can drove away from the show. He pulled the Bentley into a parking strip shaded by dense trees, and an attendant promptly came over to collect a two-yuan parking fee. The Bentley certainly drew looks from passersby. Su Can closed the windows so the people outside could not see in, then watched the bustling streets through the glass. Away from the show's ostentatious swagger, he felt a little directionless for the first time.
Before he owned a car, he could always think of places he would go once he had one. But after buying it, he suddenly found that he could not decide where to go.
Then Tang Wu called. From the sound of it, she seemed to be somewhere crowded. On the street, or in a shopping mall?
"Where are you?"
"I'm out. What about you? Weren't you spending today with your family?"
"Yes, we're shopping. I'm a little bored, so I wanted to ask where you were.
