Chapter 126: Half each
They were on the street outside Rongcheng Garden again. The streetlights glowed a dim yellow in the night, and the passing traffic only added to the desolation. Winter brought a chill, too; a single breath instantly dispersed into a cloud of mist.
Wang Weiwei, Lin Zouwen, Lin Luoran, and Su Can strolled outside Rongcheng Garden's villa community, with much the same idle air they had in the past. Nothing in their leisurely appearance suggested they were the central figures in the incident whose news had just begun spreading from Guojin Road.
"Thanks... for today." Su Can patted Wang Weiwei's shoulder. He felt a warmth inside at how Lin Zouwen and Wang Weiwei had come to back him up today.
"What are you talking about?" Wang Weiwei rolled his eyes at Su Can, clearly very displeased to hear him say that.
Lin Zouwen chuckled. His skin had grown darker and more bronze after this semester at military school. Grinning, he joked, "Aren't we the Su Can Legion?"
The brief, cheesy surge of feeling those words evoked soon passed. Lin Zouwen continued, "That brat Tao Chuhong was just asking for it. No one's ever put him in his place. I've disliked him for ages, and I've heard plenty about him lately. All that talk about how awesome he is, who's suffered at his hands. I said ages ago that he'd better not mess with us, or I'd show him that a scrawny arm can never overpower a thick thigh... Still, if we're talking credit, my little sister deserves the most today."
Su Can looked at Lin Luoran until she finally couldn't help telling him, "Don't get the wrong idea. I just find Tao Chuhong annoying. What I did today wasn't entirely because of you."
