Chapter 157: An invitation
The Freshman Cup football tournament at Nanjing University had begun. Nanjing University's football culture could not compare with that of neighboring Tongji University, where the three pitches at its main campus on Chifeng Road and Siping Road each hosted an average of one or two matches a week. Although matches at Nanjing University were less frequent, they always drew a decent crowd, especially when departments or schools were involved. There were unlikely to be formal squads of female cheerleaders waving flags and shouting encouragement, but there were plenty of amateur ones.
Before it began, there had been round-the-clock publicity, just as there was for every campus event. Unsatisfied with the tiny amount of authority his position gave him, he had gone straight to the Student Union and, with a little help from his seniority, landed himself a deputy head position in the Sports Department. He encouraged Su Can to organize a class team, preferably setting an example by playing himself, and secured a favorable draw for Su Can's class. Their first opponent was supposedly a pushover they could crush however they pleased.
