After becoming Acting Depot Lord, he discovered that his agents had tolerated a village’s abuses as factional leverage and confronted Wang Gu over the injustice.

• Chen Yi forced Yin Tingxue into his household, learned the Great Star-Absorbing Art, and used it to build his strength while killing guards and Demonic Cult members who threatened his plans.
• Chen Yi used Min Ning to attack the Demonic Cult remnants, then framed the deaths of Xue Youge and the Discipline Elder to protect his standing and conceal his own role.
• Chen Yi pressured Min Ming into serving him and spreading rumors against the Eastern Depot, while Min Ning tried to protect her sister and Yin Tingxue from him.
• Chen Yi turned down Lin Yan’s offer of the Eastern Depot directorship, accepted the Cangshan Fist manual from Director Wu, and gained an audience with Empress Dowager An, who plotted to disgrace his supposed clan through marriage.
• The Do Not Use Tower agreed to cooperate with Chen Yi, but Min Ming secretly poisoned him before the Magpie Pavilion’s raid forced Granny Qingmei’s people to flee.
• Chen Yi invested forty-nine years of True Qi in the Cangshan Fist, then took charge as Acting Depot Lord and began investigating the privately built Infant Tower.
• At the village, Wang Gu admitted the Ding'an faction had tolerated abuses to weaken the Lin faction, and Chen Yi drew his saber in anger.

Chen Yi survived factional attacks, confronted ghosts during Demon-Quelling Day, and killed Deng Ai with Min Ning’s saber technique. After raiding Jade Elegance Estate and striking at Prince Jing’s interests, Chen Yi was assigned to investigate Demon-Quelling Day and the Chancellor Case.

• Chen Yi defeated Wang Gu’s guards, cut off Wang Gu’s arm, and ordered Min Ning to rescue the children from the Infant Tower and arrest its builders.
• Chen Yi assumed the position of Depot Lord and planned to use the Prayer Daoist Grounds to trap the Lin and Ding'an factions, while Min Ning kissed him and admitted she wanted to protect Min Ming from him.
• Yin Weiying tried to draw Chen Yi toward cultivation and severed worldly attachments, but Chen Yi remembered Yin Tingxue and refused to abandon her.
• When Demon-Quelling Day arrived early, Chen Yi and Yin Weiying encountered ghosts, and Chen Yi helped a dying Asura reach enlightenment and collected its Red-Gold Sarira.
• Chen Yi learned that Prince Jing had ordered Huang Liuqing to kill him, escaped their fight, and later joined Min Ning to investigate Min He’s death and the ghost general in Huai River Village.
• Chen Yi identified the Ghost General as Deng Ai and killed it with Min Ning’s Wind- and Rain-Scattering Saber technique, after which Min Ning kissed him.
• Chen Yi and Min Ning raided Jade Elegance Estate, where Chen Yi killed Feng Ying and crippled Feng Luo, while Prince Jing ordered Huang Liuqing to prepare a trap for Chen Yi.
• Empress An ordered Chen Yi to investigate the Chancellor Case and the Grand Empress Dowager’s death, and Director Wu assigned him to investigate Demon-Quelling Day as the Prayer Daoist Grounds approached.
