Ch. 90The Ghost-Slaying Mission

After receiving his custom Nichirin Blade, Meikyō was summoned on a demon-slaying mission and sent a Shadow Clone to investigate the Kamado family. He followed his Kasugai Crow toward a haunted house while considering how to help the Demon Slayer Corps and prepare for Muzan’s future attack.

  • Meikyō tested his red-and-blue-gold Nichirin Blade, thanked Tetsuana Kōzō, and watched the swordsmith leave for the Swordsmith Village.
  • A Kasugai Crow summoned Meikyō for a mission, and he secretly sent a Shadow Clone toward Mount Sagiri to check whether Tanjiro had arrived and investigate the Kamado family.
  • Meikyō decided not to approach the Kamado family during the coming winter because he lacked confidence against Muzan and Kokushibo, and he resolved to complete his mission and help the Demon Slayer Corps.
  • Matsuchiro told Meikyō to head southeast to the Mountain Village Haunted House, and Meikyō urged the crow to fly faster.

Ch. 91Tokito Family

Meikyō searched unsuccessfully for the Kamado family and encountered Oyakata Amane, who told him she had found the Tokito clan, descendants of Tsugikuni Yoriichi. After learning that demons might be active near their mountain home, Meikyō considered a more direct way to bring the two brothers into the Demon Slayer Corps.

  • Meikyō reflected that he had searched the area for the Kamado family but found no information about them.
  • Meikyō met Oyakata Amane in town and learned she had located the descendants of Tsugikuni Yoriichi.
  • Oyakata Amane explained that the Tokito clan had become two brothers who lived by chopping wood, and that the older brother refused to come down the mountain.
  • Oyakata Amane said people had recently gone missing near the Tokito family’s mountain and suspected demons were active there.
  • Meikyō suggested that the Tokito brothers should be brought down by force rather than persuaded at length.

Ch. 92Are You Going Down the Mountain with Me, or Do I Have to Tie You Up and Take You Down?

Meikyō rescued the Tokito twins from a demon attack and began taking them down the mountain, while Oyakata Amane learned he had received an urgent lead related to the Ancestral Breathing Technique. Ichiro watched Meikyō disappear and wondered whether he could become a Hashira to protect Muichiro.

  • Matsuchiro warned Meikyō that a demon was attacking the Tokito family on Little Brushwood Mountain, and Meikyō hurried there ahead of Oyakata Amane.
  • Tokito Yuichiro tried to protect Muichiro from the demon, but the demon broke into their cabin and injured Muichiro before Meikyō killed it with Flame Breathing, First Form: Unknowing Fire.
  • Meikyō treated Yuichiro's shoulder and insisted that the twins come down the mountain with him, and Yuichiro agreed.
  • Oyakata Amane met Meikyō and the twins on the mountain path, then took the twins with her after Meikyō said he had something important to investigate related to the Ancestral Breathing Technique.
  • After Meikyō vanished, Oyakata Amane told Ichiro that he would soon become a Hashira, and Ichiro wondered if he could become strong enough to protect Muichiro.

Ch. 93Dance of the Fire God

Uchiha Meikyō reached the Kamado family home and asked Tanjiro about the Dance of the Fire God, believing it could help save many people. Tanjiro explained the dance’s twelve forms and how his father had passed them on, while Meikyō remained intent on getting the family off the mountain before nightfall.

  • Uchiha Meikyō traveled through the snowy mountains after his Shadow Clone found the Kamado family.
  • Kie welcomed Meikyō and explained that Tanjiro had inherited the Dance of the Fire God from his late father, Tanjuro.

  • Meikyō watched Tanjiro perform the Dance of the Fire God and memorized its forms with his Sharingan.
  • Tanjiro rejected Meikyō's claims about Sun Breathing and demons, so Meikyō knocked him unconscious and pressured Kie to leave with him.
  • Kakushi arrived with handcarts to pack the Kamado family's belongings, while Kochō Shinobu learned that Meikyō had also inherited the Dance of the Fire God.
  • Shinobu apologized to Kie for Meikyō's forceful behavior and reassured her that they meant no harm.
  • Meikyō ordered the group to leave before nightfall to protect the Kamado family from a demon attack.

Ch. 95Giyuu Surrounded

After returning to the Butterfly Mansion, Tanjiro learned about Muichiro’s encounter with Meikyō, while Yuichiro began sword training with Shinazugawa Sanemi. At the Hashira meeting, Tomioka Giyuu provoked a confrontation before Meikyō explained how he had traced the Ancestral Breathing Technique to Sun Breathing.

  • Tanjiro asked Muichiro about demons and learned that Meikyō had saved him and his brother with a flaming sword.
  • Yuichiro insisted on learning swordsmanship to protect his little brother, so Shinazugawa Sanemi taught him the basics and demanded a thousand practice swings.
  • Ubuyashiki Kagaya convened an early Hashira meeting after the discovery of descendants of the original swordsmen and inheritors of the Ancestral Breathing Technique.
  • Tomioka Giyuu questioned why Meikyō was attending a Hashira meeting, prompting Shinazugawa Sanemi and Iguro Obanai to surround him.
  • Meikyō explained that his study of the five basic Breathing styles led him to investigate their common origin, and that records from Kyōjurō’s Flame Hashira lineage revealed traces of Sun Breathing.

Ch. 96Return to Konoha

  • Uchiha Yashiro considered Meikyō’s future influence and decided he should choose a side soon.
  • Uchiha Yu asked Meikyō why he had said what he did, and Meikyō replied that he was already conspicuous and did not want to attract more attention.

Ch. 98Mirror Body Flicker Technique

  • Meikyō eagerly began studying the scroll, and Uchiha Yu offered to teach him the Uchiha Flame Formation and the fundamentals of sealing.
  • News of Meikyō's powerful attack spread, and Uchiha Fugaku visited Uchiha Yu and Meikyō to discuss it.
  • Danzo brought Hiruzen Sarutobi a report about Uchiha Yu's rumored strength, but Hiruzen dismissed the claims as exaggerated.
  • Danzo showed Hiruzen Meikyō's file and argued that the twelve-year-old, who had a Three Tomoe Sharingan and Jonin-level strength, should be placed in Root under his control.

Ch. 99A Truly Pure-Blooded Affair

Hiruzen rejected Danzo’s demand to recruit Meikyō into Root and considered using him to balance Danzo and Orochimaru. Meikyō continued studying sealing techniques and went to Dan’s wedding with a bouquet of wisteria.

  • Danzo argued that Meikyō’s talent and Uchiha ties made him a future threat, but Hiruzen refused to let Root recruit him.
  • After Danzo stormed out, Hiruzen worried about Danzo and Orochimaru’s growing influence and considered cultivating another faction.

  • Uchiha Fugaku revealed that he intended to compete with Orochimaru and Dan Katō for the next Hokage position.
  • Meikyō asked Fugaku to compare the Uchiha and Senju clans, then pointed out that the Senju’s prestige and Tsunade’s influence offset the Uchiha’s advantages.
  • Meikyō argued that Dan Katō had broad support and Orochimaru was favored, leaving Fugaku fourth at best among the Hokage candidates.
  • Meikyō explained that previous Hokage had shaped each succession and said the Third Hokage would inevitably support one candidate.

Ch. 102Totsuka Blade

  • Meikyō used Fire Style and a Shadow Clone with wire-bound shuriken to keep Akaza on the defensive.
  • Meikyō repeatedly wounded Akaza, who became increasingly excited as he felt close to reaching the supreme realm.
  • Meikyō nearly decapitated Akaza, but Akaza deflected the blade and briefly tried to strike Meikyō’s heart before an illusion made him hesitate.
